Tomato Lover January 6, 2009 Roses Rates This Heirloom Tomato book is perfect for anyone who loves tomatoes. I bought it for a friend for Christmas who does. She loved it. The photographs are so beautiful and tantalizing. Makes your mouth water just looking at them. So it would be a nice coffee table book. But for the true tomato lover, it has the history of many heirloom varieties, planting seasons, etc. if you're interested in cultivating from seeds. It has lists of resources and great recipes in the last half of the book. Wonderfully done.
A lovely book! January 3, 2009 Gail McCoy (Montana) I'm not even sure why I purchased this book, as I'm not particularly interested in heirloom tomatoes. But, it is a BEAUTIFUL book you'll be proud to own. The photography is gorgeous and if you weren't interested in heirloom tomatoes before you certainly will be after you've seen this book. I haven't tried any of the recipes yet, but they look quite appealing.
Great December 16, 2008 Reader (Michigan) What a wonderful book! I will now order some tomato seeds that I read sbout in this book.
Heirloom Tomato: A Fruit of a Different Color! November 25, 2008 Elizabeth O'Neill (Manassas, VA USA) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
Awesome! I had no idea that tomatoes were so interesting. I originally read about this book in the Washington Post and ordered it for my mom-- I didn't expect to become so fascinated with it myself! Not only does this book describe approximately one million different kinds of tomatoes, but it also has a guide for where to purchase seeds, so you can grow the ones that seem most interesting to you. Recipes are included along with a detailed description of the tomato. Finally, the pictures are AMAZING. The photography is just beautiful, and that's what really sold me on the book. Each frame is a work of art, truly. If you're on the fence about it, go ahead and get it-- it was money well spent.

I haven't read this book - it's a Christmas gift for a tomato lover! But the photography is AMAZING! It also seems fairly informative. I just might have to buy a copy for myself!
