Fancy Words Are Simply Fascinating! From everyone's favorite fancy girl comes an alphabetical guide to enhancing vocabulary. Why say beautiful when there are fancy words like gorgeous and glamorous? Instead of hello, try bonjour, which is French and so much fancier. An umbrella will keep you dry, but a parasol will make you feel like a Hollywood movie star! With this helpful A-to-Z guide, Fancy Nancy shows that making plain words into fancy ones is not only educational, it's fun!

You get what you expect - November 26, 2008 I am convinced that children (age 6 and 2 - my great nieces) who are read to and children who read go further in life than those who don't. Part of this goes back to their parents. If you think it's too hard for your child to learn a new word, he/she won't learn it - and young children are like sponges - they soak up new information fast. Fancy Nancy makes learning fun. Little girls like Fancy Nancy. They love hearing the story and reading it by themselves. It's a no brainer. They think books are fun as you do, and Amazon.com is ecstatic too!
Fancy Nancy's Favorite Fancy Words November 25, 2008 This book is adorable and any little girl would love to receive it. The pictures are busy and fancy. Nancy, as always, is fancy to the 9's. What a delightful method used to learn the alphabet and expand your favorite fancy child's language at the same time. It's so Nancy to be Fancy, indeed.
not for older children October 14, 2008 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
I ordered this book for my granddaughter who is 8. She loves to read and loves to use big words. However, the book is geared more toward a 4 or 5 year old and is not suitable. I have not returned the book but will give it to my just born granddaughter when the time comes. Amazon should readdress the age appropriateness stated for this book.
Fantastic book! August 29, 2008 We love all of the Fancy Nancy books! This one is great - you will love the illustrations and the new words!

I learned a bunch of new words in this silly book about girls. My favorite words in the story are on the "G" page: Gorgeous and Glamorous. My Mom says that I am gorgeous. The book says that so-in-so is glamorous. I also like the "D" word "Dapper." I told my Dad he was "diaper" today and he laughed. I had to show him the page so he would understand; that made him laugh more! I also like to say the "O" word "Ooh la la!" This is another way of saying something is fancy. This book makes me laugh.
Parent's Comment:
"Fancy Nancy's Favorite Words: From Accessories to Zany" by Jane O'Connor is a great idea for a book, endless possibilities; maybe the author will write more. Great illustrations of adorable little girls all dressed up. Lots of fun with vocabulary!
