Album Description 2009 album from one of the most successful Rap artists in history. He's sold more albums than most Rock and Pop superstars. He's a Grammy winner. He's an Oscar winner. He's been on the cover of practically every music magazine since his debut album dropped in 1999. Now, 10 years after The Slim Shady LP, Eminem marks his 10th anniversary as a Hip Hop hurricane with Relapse, yet another skillful collaboration with Dr. Dre. Features the single 'Crack A Bottle' (which features Dre and 50 Cent).

GARBAGE !!! January 20, 2010 E. Sterling (San Diego) 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
This is crap. The beats are garbage. Vocals suck too. Who buys this? His first album was good, that's it. Don't waste your cash. I laughed when I heard that this was the favorite to win album of the year grammy. And of course it won over good albums from Common and Q Tip.
Decent.. If you give it time January 11, 2010 Constance Dickerson (Cleveland Hts., OH United States) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I have been an eminem fan for years and i do believe he is the best rapper of all time. this album is definitely different from any of his other main albums, but it has a lot of bright spots on it. personaally, i had to give it some time because i felt that eminem was continuing to go downhill after his worst album, Encore. when i heard 3 AM, Crack a Bottle, and We Made You, i was very disappointed and thought that this would be the first eminem album that i never get. it seemed as though eminem was growing away from his original edgy, hardcore, emotional, controversial rap to becoming more theatric and just crude. in other words, for those of you who just discovered eminem, then you will love this album, but if knew eminem back to the marshall mathers/slim shady days then you will know what i mean. but, i was wrong. this album is very entertaining at worst, but it definitely has some good unique rapping on this album. he does have a little more production than usual though. out of his albums i'll show you the new order:
1. Marshall Mathers LP
2. The Eminem Show
3. Slim Shady LP
4. RELAPSE
5. Encore
Now for the song by song:
1 DR West 2/5
kinda funny skit i guess..
2 3 AM 2.5/5
at first i hated this song because em's voice was weird and i didn't get the whole horror thing. the horror thing actually becomes a reoccuring theme on the album. i did kinda like the beat, but it is simple, like most beats on the album(this album is to showcase em's raps anyway). the lyrics are kind of interesting.
3 My Mom 2/5
from the title i expected something serious. instead it is just a dumb drug/slash bashing mom song. em has done a lot better at bashing his mom in previous songs. overall this song is pretty dumb.
4 Insane 3.5/5
don't ask me why, but i do think this song can be funny. it's really crude and over the top, but em does get on a roll in this song.
5 Bagpipes from baghdad 2/5
the title tells you that this song is dumb.
6 Hello 3.5
i like this song lyrically and em always has a song in the middle of the album where he kinda introduces himself. decent song.
7 Tonya 2/5
unamusing skit, but sets up the next song.
8 Same Song and Dance 4/5
this song is em doing dark love storytelling with a good beat. good and interesting song
9 We Made You 3.5/5
his usual funny big hit. made for the general publis, but his pop culture references are undeniably funny. reminded me of ain't nuthin but music. it will get on your nerves after a couple listens though.
10 Medicine Ball 4/5
what's up with this dumb titles?? i like the christopher reeves part at the end. this song has a good pace to it though throughout.
11 Paul 2/5
every album has a paul skit. they are usually the same, but i can't hate tradition.
12 Stay Wide Awake 4/5
kind of like medicine ball, but not as funny. em gets on a lyrical roll in this one and the chorus is pretty good.
13 Old Time's Sake 4/5
gotta love em and dre on the track. dre sounds good and em follows up good too.
14 Must Be the Ganja 3/5
em's ode to drugs. kind of has no purpose, but is ok.
15 MR Mathers 2/5
like this, but not much to it. sets up the next song too
16 Deja Vu 4/5
one of the best songs lyrically and talks about his recent drugs troubles. i wanted him to do this song and he did a good job
17 Beautiful 5/5
the way this song starts out is amazing. this is em at his best. lyrically hard, best beat on the album, great chorus, great meaning, not the best on the album though.
18 Crack a Bottle 0/5
Em wtf were you thinking man. This song is not em. it shouldn't be a hit, it is not only the worst song on the album, but clearly the worst song eminem has ever done. em can make club hits doing his own style. this is like a 50 cent song, not eminem. major disappointment
19 Steve Berman 3/5
i always like this skit, it is the best one on ems albums. i knew what to expect though
20 Underground 5/5
em kills it on this song. he dominated with every line. this song is just all around strong
A Solid Comeback January 10, 2010 SutterCane (Philly) Em took a long hiatus after "Encore"(Although he did release A Greatest hits album and the "Re Up" collaboration. In that tie, he went back and re-discovered the horror movie inspired Content that made him a star in the first place....The beats all bang and the rhythim is probably better than it ever has been
Best songs:
Insane
3 AM
Deja Vu
Underground
Beautiful
Not For Every Eminem Fan December 29, 2009 Luis Guillermo Velez 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
The album is dope....the problem is, you might not like it for what it is. Face it, unless something weird happens when he drops Relpase 2, he is not going back to his Eminem Show days, and that is perhaps what i love about the album. Its a breath of fresh air, as far as beats and lyrics go. There isnt much substance, i give you that, but he is having fun and the lyrics, multis, wordplay and rhyme schemes are sick, so are his multiple flows.
The flows might be the other issue why some people dont like the album, the so called accent. There is no accent to me, its just the same eminem that has always bent words to make them rhyme, just with a different voice and flow this time, and there is like literally a different flow for every song.
In my opinion this album is dope, with some weak points like bagpipes from Baghdad and crack a bottle, but song like stay wide awake, beautiful, hello, underground, dejavu and 3am show eminem is in his prime as far as lyrics and rhyme schemes go
Eminem is Overated December 29, 2009 Eric G. Bakke (Seattle, WA United States) 1 out of 5 found this review helpful
He was sort of clever and fresh when he first came out...but he has now proven that the only thing he is capable of succesfully rapping about is his jacked-up family and rhymes of self-pity. He's become quite dull. He's tried other stuff, he tried to get political on that one album, but in the end I suppose he is just not educated enough to intelligently tackle other subject matters. BUT if you like rappers who are good at killing themselves and their own family, Eminem is your guy. Aside from Eminem's diminished rapping skills, the music itself is also his worst yet. The hooks sound pretty amatuer, I'm suprised whoevery produced this album (which I'm assuming was either Dre or Eminem himself) let him get away with such mediocrity. Eminem's stock seems to be going down, I personally won't miss him very much.
