Album Description EXPLICIT. 2010 release, a crossover Rock album from the self-proclaimed 'greatest rapper of all time'. Lil Wayne's previous full-length, the Grammy Award-winning The Carter III has been certified triple platinum with over one million sold in it's first week of release! Rebirth, his long rumored Rock album, is still Rap heavy and features guest appearances from Eminem, Shanell (AKA SNL), Kevin Rudolf, Nicki Minaj and others. Includes the first single 'Prom Queen'.

SELL OUT February 9, 2010 Jason (NOVA) Media sellout. He didnt stay true to his skill. The album is a futile attempt of trying to please everyone, but its just garbage if you like the old wayne. Two thumbs down
LMAO!!!!!! February 8, 2010 TXTerrorist LMAO!!!!!!! Ok, for I only previewed the album so maybe this won't be the best review. "On Fire" and "Drop The World" sound like the only 2 tracks worthy of being listened to without hysterical laughing. IMO, this shoulda been a mixtape... (A free one at that)
Wayne's world February 5, 2010 Nse Ette (Lagos, Nigeria) 0 out of 2 found this review helpful
Well, here it is at last, Lil Wayne's oft delayed Rock album and his vanity project. So, is it any good? Well, for those open to new stuff, it's not so bad. Some songs stand out; the buzzing "Ground Zero", the dance-y "Da Da Da", the more mellow "Paradice", the bouncy Pop-tinged "Get A Life", the slower chugging "Runnin'" featuring Shanell (who really should have done all the singing), "One Way Trip" featuring Kevin Rudolf), and the more Hip Hop-than-Rock "Drop The World" featuring Eminem.
Now, to the bad; much of the music brings nothing new to the table, hardly any special guitar licks for one. "On Fire" for example stands out thanks to the juxtaposition of a very eighties-sounding intro and intermittent riff (which reminds me somewhat of Cyndi Lauper's "She Bop" and Irene Cara's "Fame") over skittery beats, he should have experimented more like this. Also, his growl/snarling vocals grate on one's ears after a while. Lastly, the lyrics are for the most part juvenile.
Definitely not as bad as most make it out to be, it's obviously something Wayne needed to get out of his system. Most artists have an experimental album in their repertoire that people didn't get (Kanye, Prince, Terence Trent D'arby, Erykah Badu, for example) and while this is nowhere near as arty or accomplished as those efforts by the above artists, this appears to be Lil Wayne's attempt.
Lil Wayne Explores Rock February 4, 2010 Jackson Joe (L.A., CA) 0 out of 4 found this review helpful
It seems that many people were expecting the usual from Lil Wayne (rapping), yet that's not what this album is supposed to be. This album is meant to be a rock album not a rap album. That said, it is fair to say this is a very solid effort. The album takes you through many different genres of rock including Ska, Metal, 80s, Punk, and many more.
"Knockout" is an amazing collaboration between Wayne and Young Money constituent Nicki Minaj that falls into the Ska category. Travis Barker makes an appearance on the drums with Kevin Rudolf on vocals in "One Way Trip" which is in amazing infusion of Nu-Metal and Rap. Songs like "Paradice" and "Runnin" explore themes of money, fame, and the illusion they both create. The collaboration with Eminem "Drop the World" is another standout track where both MCs take you on an emotional journey about their lives.
The only track that I skip over is the first single "Prom Queen" which I felt was a major cliche. Despite this, it is a song that most young men can relate to. With Lil Wayne now entering a one-year jail sentence we will have Rebirth, We Are Young Money, and the stand-out mixtape "No Ceilings" to hold us over.
In conclusion, I would say don't fall into the trap of critics who are trying to shun this album. Give it a listen and enjoy it. Rebirth is a solid rock album that is a nice escape from Wayne's reign over the rap game.
