Product Description Hailed as the best Metal Album of 2007 by journalists and fans alike. The Blackening Special Edition features rare bonus tracks, over 2 hours of live performances spanning the globe, music videos, the making of each video, the making of The Blackening , expanded artwork and more.
Album Description Explicit Version. Special Edition includes Bonus DVD. The Blackening is the sixth studio album by American groove Metal band Machine Head. Recorded in a period of four months, the writing process began in early 2005, and recording concluded in late 2006. Lyrical themes explored on The Blackening include love, war, suicide, organized religion, and anger in society. The album's first single, "Aesthetics of Hate", is a retaliation to an article written by William Grim for the conservative web site Iconoclast. Titled "Aesthetics Of Hate: R.I.P. Dimebag Abbott, & Good Riddance", the article praised the murder of musician Dimebag Darrell, while he was performing with the band Damageplan on December 8, 2004.

DVD plus Bonus songs! February 4, 2010 cRAP sucks (Midwest City, OK United States) The live dvd(11 tracks i think) and two bonus songs(Maiden and Metallica covers) are worth it alone!
As good as Impires!!! December 28, 2009 Daniel Rodrigues I didn't belive this band could release another album as great as Through the Ashes of Impires!! But they did! This is an amazing record definititly worth buying! The videos, the backstage footage and the live performances also worths the extra money!!
Buy it!!!
Amazing Masterpiece! October 17, 2009 E. D. Rezek This is epic metal. I can not get enough of this cd. I play it at the gym, I play it at home, and in the car. Truly one of the best albums I've ever heard. I'll go as far to say it is better than Burn My Eyes. Good to see the dvd was not a cheap lame cash grab as so many bonus dvd's are. **It should be noted there is a 3 disk version that also includes a disc of b-sides/covers and demos but that is near impossible to find.**
Bottom line buy this!!
Worth the extra $$ January 18, 2009 Dungeoner (Orange County, NY) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Great CD by itself. The addition of the DVD makes it even better. If you bought the original, as I did, when it was first released, don't be discouraged from plunking down the added $ on this. The DVD by itself would be a good deal. The extra songs on the CD make it a no-brainer. This was one of the best metal discs released in 2007. If you don't already own it, what are you waiting for?
For the collector January 12, 2009 Sicklefinger (The rock formerly known as Pluto) 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
I got this because i love Iron Maiden and wanted to get their version of "Hallowed Be Thy Name" (one of the greatest of all Iron Maiden songs). It's good, but if you don't love Iron Maiden it's not really worth getting just for this. You do also get a cover of mettallica's "Battery" which is solid also. The DVD has a number of videos, some live footage, and some footage of the filming of the videos and the album.
Get this if you really want the extras, otherwise, stick with the regular album which is absolutely fantastic. I'm really rating the bonus features here, the album is 5 stars.
