Nathaniel Hawthorne. Hawthorne's great novel of the Pyncheon family comes to life in this an excellent play with an afterword by Bennet Cerf.
-5- Billy Budd: Peter Ustinov stars in this haunting Melville tale of evil and innocence and the man who must choose between military justice and his own sense of right. Peter Ustinov plays Captain Vere, with the Helen Hayes equity group as supporting players, and with an introduction by Helen Hayes.
-6- The Grapes of Wrath by John Steinbeck. A stirring dramatization by a fine cast who portray the Joad's desperate search for a home, work, and human dignity.
These early radio shows are of exceptional quality although it was recorded before the advent of high fidelity recording equipment. Beacuse of it these early recording have some tape noise.
