Album Description Two CD 2008 release by Judas Priest. In the realm of Heavy Metal, there has never been a double disc concept album that has managed to balance a thought-provoking storyline with metallic thunder. Long in the works, Nostradamus takes epic storytelling to a whole new level, as it recounts the life of this mysterious, world-known 16th Century French prophet. Most bands of this high stature would be happy to play it safe. But not Judas Priest, who continue to take chances and break new ground. No other rock band could have pulled off such a grand statement, and Judas Priest have raised the bar once more with Nostradamus. 23 tracks.

great concept disc from a melodic priest January 5, 2010 Michael P. Dobey (colorado springs) Too much of todays metal features bad singing , limited playing and little melody which is for me is barely tolerable live but not to listen to anywhere else. This cd is melodic and features good playing and singing. I really enjoyed this one and I am glad the boys are still at it making great music. To me the best metal was from the 70's- 1980's so this one; which is similiar to that sound but still updated was a good listen to me.
Nostradamus December 15, 2009 Bjorn Viberg (European Union) Nostradamus being Judas Priest first concept album and is similair to such releases such as Kraftwerks Autobahn and The Who's The Wall and they mix heavy metal and symphonic metal without it sounding trite or forced. The booklet is quite elaborate with linernotes written by the band, all the lyrics are included and very beautiful artwork that fits right in with the theme. Allmusic gave the album a quite negative review (2.5/5 ) and Popmatters was also lower then I expected. The lyrics are well-written and the melodies are astounding with great guitar solos. 4/5.

The best song on the record is Prophecy, and the rest of the record, although slow moving, is still interesting to listen to, with it's guitar synthesizers and all. Quite an ambitious effort for the group, a concept record/rock opera, and Rob Halford has the voice for it.
How did they do this??? September 19, 2009 Graham T. Ferguson (Davenport, Iowa United States) 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
Epic, heart-wrenching, beautiful, haunting, inspired, an absolute masterpiece! It's truly astonishing this late in the game, Judas Priest makes something this special and gets almost no credit for it, while other metal bands half their age are just struggling to string together 50 minutes of competent music! How did they do this???
I'm usually much more specific in my reviews, but I'm so moved by this record, I can't bring myself to pick it apart. It's a wonder!
There was talk of a live performance of this whole record for DVD, I hope so much that they do it!
