Album Description
This is Vanessa's 2008 followup album to her world wide platinum selling album 'V'. Vanessa Hudgens' largest role among teenage audiences has been starring in the Disney Channel movie High School Musical, staring as the shy, intelligent student Gabriella Montez. Her first single from this album is 'Sneakernight'. Hudgens was born in Salinas, California, Vanessa is a talented beauty and she comes from an international mixture of Irish Native American by her father and Filipino, Spanish, Chinese descent by her mother. In August 2007 at the Teen Choice Awards, Hudgens was named the Choice Breakout Singer - Female, beating out other noteworthy nominees including American Idol contestant Katharine McPhee, Amy Winehouse, Corrine Bailey Rae and Lily Allen.

Gabriella, is that you? It's not crystal clear exactly who she's identifying herself with, but i am amazed at the ambiguity and lack of identity. Is she a moon traveler, rapper, fast speaker or hip-hop/pop artist? Why is she requesting to be beamed up aboard the S.S. Enterprise, and why does a paper cut hurt so bad? These questions and many more inane and odd permutations leave me scratching my head and saying out loud, "really?", in saracastic disbelief.
Let's start with the juvenile songwriting. It's just strange when there's a song about martians that's invaded earth and the only way to escape is to climb into a rocket, or as Hudgens literally sings it, "beam me up Scotty". And, oh by the way, there just happens to be a party on the moon at the same exact time and you know what? You're invited. "It's so exciting" to be on the moon, she exclaims. Really?
What happens when instead of pulling out a decent metaphor like Shakespeare did comparing "thee to a summer day", there's this confusing comparison that compares love to a paper cut, "so deep the pain grows worse." Really?
And what's the deal with "Sneakernight," where Hudgens explains that "basically, what we're going to do is dance", so wear your sneakers! Now, repeat that line 100 times and that's the song. Really? It's like walking into a kitchen after leaving your two kids - one 3 and the other 1.5 years old - and seeing everything in the cupboard emptied out onto the floor and just blurting out: What happened here?
Moving on, musically the album is a strange eclectic mix of rap, speaking, electronic backdrops, synthesized vocals and suppressed vocals. Hudgens is at her best when showing that big airy range she is capable of, as when she was dropping notes in the High School Musical trilogy. I admire that this album attempts to differentiate itself from the rest of the pack, with Ashley Tisdale and Miley Cyrus all coming from the Disney family, but this project clocks in as one of those "If They Mated" segments on the old Conan O'Brien late late night show, spawning from sub-standard songwriting and a confused vision of who Hudgens is or represents herself as.

So Indentified is Vanessa Hudgen's Second Album, which is a good pop album. The Songs range from really good to what did i just listen to? So The First track on this album Last Night is a really good song. It kinda has this weird vibe to it that just makes me want to dance, with tap shoes. After The first track we are introuduced to the second song indentified and in my opinion should have have been her first single. First Bad Habit is next which again in my opinion should have been a single.Then We Get the pop dance song Hook It Up Which kinda a way by how vanessa is singing reminds me in a way of Barbie girl. When she says we wanna party party maybe it's just me. Don't ask why is my least favorie song on this album when I hear it i just skip it, it's just not a song that apeals to me. But anyways Other songs that are worth a listen to are Did Ever cross your mind and Don't leave. But I find this album to slightly better then Her first album so it really is worth a listen to.

Au contraire. I am a boomer same age as Bruce Springsteen, Gene Simmons, Billy Joel. I had to introduce my children, now in their 20s, to Ja Rule. I disagree. I think Vanessa Hudgens probably has the best set of pipes out there.
Aly & AJ are probably the best performers, but Hudgens' voice is better. Nipping at her heels is Hayden Panettierre. With Panettierre, I wonder how much of that is machinery. Believe Hudgens has a great voice without machinery. Sorry I missed her at the New Mexico state fair. I was considering the 500 mile trip just to see her. Saw her perform on YouTube. Get her out of movies and into performance.

Vanessa Hudgens has been very famous ever since her lead role in Disney Channel's most popular TV movie, 'High School Musical'. Whether its her relationship with Zac, her music career, or her nude photo controversy, it seemed at one point she couldn't stay out of the tabloids. Her debut album "V" was a very good pop album with just a few fillers. Easily four stars. After hearing "Sneakernight", I wondered how this album would turn out. "Sneakernight" was an average three star song. It was catchy, had a nice beat, but it was very repetitive lyrically. After hearing this album, it did not have many songs like that. Unfortunately, these songs were either hit or miss, with only a few in between great and bad.
Many of these songs sound like she's trying to rip of Hilary Duff's most recent album Dignity, where they both say goodbye to innocent bubblegum pop and try pop music with a very '80s dance music feel to them. However, of these two CD's, it seems Hilary's is much better lyrically and a lot of times her beats are better also.
The CD starts off with "Last Night". Lyrically, this track is good. Not great, but good. However the beat to this song is very odd sounding and the words aren't very well in sync with the music, making it one of my least favorites on the CD. The CD picks up on the next song, which is the title track. This just happens to be the best song on the disc. It has a great beat, catchy lyrics, and nothing too repetitive at that! I find myself humming or even singing that song to myself on occasion. When you think the disc might not be a complete waste of money, things get just plain boring as you find yourself skipping "First Bad Habit" after the first listen.
Next up is "Hook It Up" , which is weird. It starts out with a nice beat. But it's down hill from there. "Hook It Up" sounds like it's written by a five year old. (You Got the money money/She's got the hottie body/We wanna party party/hook it on up!), and when she sings the chorus, she speaks it, almost like she's trying to rap. Plus, if you were offended by her saying the word 'hell' in the song "Let Go" from her first album, it says it in this song to, although she is not the one who says it. "Don't Ask Why" is a nice ballad after all those bad to mediocre pop/dance songs (minus the song "Identified" which is wonderful.) I would consider it another one of my favorites.
"Don't Ask Why" is followed by the single "Sneakernight", the amazing "Amazed" where she channels her bubblegum pop and a little hip hop. Lil Mama helps make this one of the best tracks on the disc, only behind "Identified". "Don't Leave" is a forgettable ballad. "Paper Cut" is a much better ballad. Then "Party on the Moon" gives us a great beat, but lyrics that many might find childish and stupid. (Just read the title.)
"Did It Ever Cross Your Mind" is another one that I tend to skip.
The CD ends with "Gone With the Wind", which is about growing up and not being afraid to speak her mind and do what SHE wants to do. This is the best ballad, and third best track on the album. When it's over, you find yourself trying to decide if it was worth it. You might find yourself add a few songs to your iPod and then putting the CD where you might not pick it up for a couple of months/years. Either way, I suggest buying "Identified", "Don't Ask Why", "Amazed", "Sneakernight", and "Gone With the Wind" on iTunes and not waste money on the whole CD.
