I love it! February 7, 2010 Y. Muriel (Las Vegas, NV) This CD from BW is really nice and have many songs that I like and enjoy to listen in a Sunday evening...with special somebody.
Barry is the Original January 24, 2010 Reproman (Detroit, United States) Barry is the king. What can I say. No matter what music people are into or their age, they all know the name Barry White. I would suggest this CD to complete any collection. I like all music but lean mostly towards hard rock (Later Metalical, Nickelback and so on). But with my average tube stereo system and full range speakers (about $30k average retail value) it is amazing how many CDs are poorly mixed or don't sound real. I now listen to a lot of female singers as their sound is not compressed to make it sound like a fake concert hall.
Barry's voice is amazing on a pure system without sub-woofers. The way music used to sound. It almost feels like you are there. The recordings are good quality but dated in the terms of backup instrumentation. And the words are from a different time. But overall the CD is a collection of classics that definitely should be shared. Some may laugh at first when you put it on but slowly become seduced by Mr. White's amazingly deep and fluid vocals that stand the tests of time.
Yeah, but what about...? February 18, 2009 Boston Brahmin (Boston, MA USA) 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
As titles go, this collection contains a version of every charted hit Barry White, including those not initially issued under his name (i.e. Love Unlimited Orchestra). After several repackages of the same material with NONE of them containing exclusively single versions, when the hell is Universal Music going to tackle that project? I'm sorry, but I don't need four packages that contain a 45 version of "Never Never Gonna Give You Up" that is missing the hi-hat cymbal during the intro or is the LP version. I also don't need several packages with an "edit of the LP version" for "You're My First, My Last, My Everything," when a perfectly good single version was the hit. Look, I realize Universal Music Group inherited the Barry White catalog from Polygram, but collectors own 45s, and all it would take is to digitally re-edit the LP version to match a dub of a 45 and voila! You have a nice, clean digital copy of the 45 version.
The Ultimate Collection...again? April 18, 2008 EDGAR S. OLIVARES (New York City, NY USA) 8 out of 8 found this review helpful
If you already have the 2CD set "The Ultimate Collection" released in 2000, you already have 29 of the 30 tracks in this collection. And it's practically in the same sequence with almost the same cover. The only difference is the former has the track "Love Makin Music" while this one has "Baby We Better Try To Get It Together". Either way, you're getting a truly definitive collection of one of music's greatest singer-songwriters.
This Collection Is KILLER!!! April 12, 2008 Eddie Ganz (New Jersey,USA) 5 out of 5 found this review helpful
This collection is perfect in many ways...first of all every song u know and love is here. And then some. The sound of the Remastering is outstanding! And mind you the way things are going if your into cds grab this one while you can. Why?because its just a matter of time before cds go by the wayside...Unfortunately people like me that love cds are a dying breed...Think about it, where is Tower Records? where is HMV? Now all you have is Walmart that for my taste the cds they have for sale are always a mess in the stores...I miss Tower..What a shame, Oh well.Go ahead order it... you wont be disappointed.
