Amazon.com She may be bald, and her parenting skills may be more backwoods than the celebrity-obsessed would prefer, but when it comes to her profession (singing pop songs, for those who have forgotten) you've got to give Brit a break. Not because her previous records have been flawless--for all its first-listen appeal, Oops! I Did It Again will drive even the most tolerant pop fiend bats after two repeats, and it's hard for long-term fans to overlook the unfortunate "I Love Rock N Roll" off 2001's Britney--but because, despite all the personal tumult, she's feeling the music like never before. Blackout is not a brilliant record for its vocals, though they're good in the cooing, sex-kittenish way we've come to expect (check first single "Gimme More," a monstrously catchy dance-pop number, for the requisite moans and sighs). But it is brilliant. And though the Neptunes, Bloodshy & Avant, and Nate "Danja" Hills do their trippy, thumpy, raved-up thing successfully enough to make you think so, the brilliance isn't in the production only. The crackling "Radar" gets under your skin not just because of its club-ready beat, a familiar element on this disc, but also from Britney's deliberate vocal haze; here she is interpreting how she ought to sound against the heat of this track, and pretty skillfully--she goes for pure vibe, and she gets it. And while the words to the seemingly autobiographical "Piece of Me" are enough to pull you in themselves--here we get to hear Britney refer to herself as "Miss Bad Media Karma"--they get a little something extra from our girl's newly awakened sense of what makes a song flow; she has the good sense to squeal. Is she a credible role model? Certainly not. Is her music worth hitting, as the old song goes, one more time? Absolutely. --Tammy La Gorce

Britney Spears - Blackout August 7, 2008 This has some nice songs, including, my favorite, The Billboard Hot 100 hit 'Piece of Me'. According to Nielsen SoundScan, Grammy winner Britney Spears is one of the best selling artist in pop music. --In March 2008, Britney Spears was on the CBS sitcom 'How I Met Your Mother', it was seen by 10.6 million viewers and according to Nielsen Media Research was the most watched episode in the shows three year history-- that puts her in company with Senator Hillary Clinton, who in the 2008 Presidential Primary race received more votes than any of her rivals, and more votes than any other Presidential Primary candidate in history)
its britney b**** August 7, 2008 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
this is a pretty good album for someone who has been out of the music business for about 3 years. im so glad britney made a comeback! i thought she would never "do it again" [lol] because i heard that she said that she didnt want to be famous anymore after she married kevin federline. but despite all the drama she faced after her divorce, she still managed to get back into the studio so she could crank out some more hits! and here they are:
1. Gimme More- this song was her first single. this song really really DOES make me want more! it has a really catchy chorus! and as many of you remember she performed it at the vma's. many thought she did horribly, but i thought she did awesome, even though she didnt know the steps that well. 5/5
2. Piece of Me- this song is a taunt to the media. alot of this song is true about her life... "Im Mrs Bad Media Karma; another day another drama" [lol] cause she does get alot of bad press and every day she gets into alot of trouble. 5/5
3. Radar- i love this song! its so awesome! even though she sounds half- robot in it and it sounds like shes singing through machines. 5/5
4. Break the Ice- this song is the BEST SONG ON THIS FREAKIN ALBUM!!!!! i absolutely love it. its her best song since toxic!!!!! 5/5
5. Heaven On Earth- this song has kind of an 80s feel to it. it also kinda makes me think of madonna's "hung up" a little. 4/5
6. Get Naked (I Got A Plan)- 4/5
7. Freakshow- 3/5
8. Toy Soldier- 4/5
9. Hot As Ice- why are all these songs about ice? [lol jk] this song has a really great beat that kinda reminds me of nelly furtado's "maneater". 5/5
10. Ooh Ooh Baby- whats weird about this song is that in parts she kind of sounds like shes singing that song "happy together" song, but i like it alot. i like the lyrics. definately worth listening to. 5/5
11. Perfect Lover- 4/5
12. Why Should I Be Sad- 4/5
Blackout better than ever August 5, 2008 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
Wow! where do I start? looking back at Spears' life from 2004-2007 is almost incredible that this album even exists. I mean... don't get me wrong. I love BRITNEY but I must confess I was a bit worried and it did cross through my mind the horrible thought of never having a new Britney album but it's HERE.
Blackout is her best work to date. It's dancey, poppy, R&B-ish and all over the place. We can hear one and a million different beats throughout the album. The only three singles (Gimme More, Piece of Me, Break the Ice) out of Blackout are the STRONGEST songs. However, I think that there's more to Blackout than what Jive Records & Britney think. There are amazing tracks like the 80's based "Heaven on Earth", The fan-favorite track "Toy Soldier" and even I dare to say "Get Naked". The albums is filled with hits and even all those songs that leaked on the internet before the album was even released. Some of those songs would have been great singles. The three bonus tracks "Get Back", "Everybody", and "Outta this World" aren't too shabby. They offer a different beats and somewhat show the experimental phase Britney was going through while recording all these songs.
The only thing left now is to wait for Spears' new album to drop. I am 100% sure it will be amazing, as long as she keeps on this blackout track but of course it won't do any damage to experiment a little more

Spears has enlisted a lot of great talent within this project. Each track is formed on a great foundation: Her pop vocals. These songs are a pop fan's delight. Each track is danceable and club worthy. The programming and instrumentations are right on pop. There should be no apologies for this LP. Great job to everyone involved. Great music for everyone on the planet. A+
great album July 13, 2008 0 out of 2 found this review helpful
Bought this album for my, younger than I, wife and I was shocked at how great it was. Clearly this album was backed by fantastic producers, enginers, arrangers, musicans, and top song writters, and was made to deliver a top pop star's triumphant return to the topermost of the popermost. The album delivers. (To bad Britney in her real life is acting a mess.) Britnety however delivers on this album like it was yesterday. How many takes it took we do not know, but she is right on. The catchy songs will be enjoyed by listening and or dancing to, and will stay in your head for weeks. Never thought Britney Spears and a great album would be in the same sentence, but it surely is true here. Enjoy!
