If you believe everything you hear, Curtis is 50 Cent's bid to be hip-hop king--the rumor goes that he issued it the same day Kanye West released his Graduation CD to spawn a sales race and thus, a) establish superiority, or b) retire with his head hung low. But here's what might not have occurred to 50: Given enough talent and a fully loaded speed-dial--the kind that can raise Timbaland, Akon, Dr. Dre, Mary J. Blige, and Eminem faster than the sickest rapper can stitch together a verse--it's possible for two diabolically good discs to drop the same day. Forgetting the Kanye competition for a moment, Curtis might come up short in a race with its creator's other albums--the rawness and reach of Get Rich Or Die Tryin' isn't here. But certain cultural moments (who would refute that the release Get Rich… was one?) can't be replicated, and what Curtis lacks in credible grit, it more than makes up for in finesse. Never let it be said that you can't be fierce and flow at the same time: "I Get Money" glides back to the old school in sound--there's a house party happening behind this track--but sends out a modern message, "I'll Still Kill," with Akon, underscores 50's continued thug-hood with a lethal hook, and "Follow My Lead," with the smoothie Robin Thicke, is a finger-popper worth 100 plays for its sly mood alone. May the best rapper, if there is one, keep rapping. --Tammy La Gorce

4 out of 5 stars Underratted CD   December 22, 2009

This right here to me was better than 50's second CD The Massacre. Not as good as the first CD Get Rich Or Die Tryin but certainly his 2nd best CD. People didn't like it but it was good. 9/10 trust me its that good.

Like everyone else, I agree that the lyrics in this album are crap but that the beats are great. Those of you not worried about lyrics should not hesitate to buy this album because it is definatly a lot of fun. Has one of my all time favorite songs, Peep Show.

3 out of 5 stars I thought it was a good attempt to be different   March 15, 2009

50 cent really wanted to try to change his image of being really ghetto to be sort of decent. I thought his music was catchy, but way too overplayed and boring! I decided to listen to this cd after everybody gave it awful reviews, and I can see why. This album just sounds stupid when you listen to it.I will say one thing, i love, love, love the track Ayo Technology. This was my ringtone when it came out! I thought this had to be one of the best club type songs to come out during that year. I thought it had a cool video, killer hooks, and a great image! Other then that I feel as if the rest of the album is pretty much filler. And compared to Kanye's groundbreaking album this one pretty much stinks. But if you like rap or are a 50 fan then you propably will want to check this album out.

50 Cent is wack. His first album was a classic and after that he has followed in Ja Rule footsteps the same guy he destroyed. He has nothing else to offer to the game. only thinks of himself and thinks he is the best MC in the game when he's not, he's not even the best in New York or in his own crew G-Unit, Lloyd Banks flow is better. Go away we need real hip hop back.1 Luv I wish i could give this half a star cause i didn't even buy it i could tell it was that bad , the only song that was hot was I Get Money.

Conceptually and production wise, this is one of 50's best albums, if not THE best. People who claimed this is a flop just turned their back on adrenaline music. It still went platinum while their cornball rappers didn't even go plastic. lol Get off 50's dic* haters.
