| Editorial Reviews:
Amazon.com Teen titans Aly & AJ don't sound like Heart, the powerhouse sister act whose hall-of-famer footsteps they hope to follow in, but it doesn't feel like an exaggeration to say they have as much talent. With their flowing blond hair, cool clothes, and gift for hitting the hype machine at just the right fame-boosting angles, they could easily carve out a career on somebody else's lyrics and a lame-o delivery. But the sisters Michalka have a lot more integrity than that: If Insomniatic, goes to show the pop-buying world anything, it's that not all youth-targeted acts deserve their featherweight reputations. The title track rocks hard, "Bullseye" borrows a Replacements vibe, and opener "Potential Breakup Song" pumps in pleasingly synth-y rhythms and sweet-heat attitude. Slighter tracks, including "Silence" and "I'm Here," showcase a sympathetic ear for teenage romantic tribulations, but overall Insomniatic is not for the drowsy--Aly & AJ are doing musical No-Doz for a new generation, and they're doing it right. check the cd case before opening December 27, 2009 David M. Brooks Christmas surprise. Gave this item as a gift imagine the surprise to open the case to find no cd or even the black cd holder wasn't inside. So check your before opening. Not even sure I'll bother to return it, it's a defect but try to prove that one, once it's opened. So all I'd get is a 50% refund. Hopefully amazon reads there reveiws & I'm not the only one this has happen to.
Parental Advisory. January 2, 2009 Pocha Dot (Los Angeles) They've grown alot since "Into The Rush". While you still get a similar effect with both album's "Insomniatic" is more hardcore, It focuses more on flirting, relationships and "cruising" as opposed to self-esteem, finding yourself and happiness like "into the Rush". Some of the actual music is a bit more experimental too. The title track "Insomniatic" is a heavier sound for the duo, It has a late 70's hard-rock vibe about it. Others like "Division" "Silence" & "I'm Here" along with the bonus track "Blush" are the duo's mild & acoustic sounds, Which are also very mature in concept. What I like most about "Insomniatic" is that they changed but didn't get carried away with it. They chose to explore concepts and a mild change with the music. The album starts off with the lead single titled "Potential Breakup Song" which exhibits the duo's angst toward a guy. A favorite of mine "Bullseye" is a flirty song about cruising random guys who they obviously find attractive while out on the town, and another favorite of mine "Closure" is a track about the guy that one of the members of the band is involved with is trying her patience and being driven away by it. Overall this album should have a "Parental Advisory" sticker on the front. Most of Aly & AJ's fans are under 12, They should not be able to relate to these lyrics. What's so misleading is the bubblegum sound, Their youthful voices and Girly image, This album's true meaning is all camuflouged by those things. Anyone would purchase this album for their kid and have no idea that songs like "Bullseye" are about CRUISING unfamiliar guys in public... Yeah I know it sounds a bit extreme but how else would I describe it? And if you got the deluxe edition of the album you should be familiar with the extra track "Blush" which is an acoustic song and one of the lines is "That won't lead you to my bed, So instead...". What kid under 13 and under can relate. I love these girls but i'm just sayin....
wow, these girls really ROCK October 13, 2008 I love Aly and AJ. They're just awesome! Their album INSOMNIATIC features popular hits like "Like Woah" (from Disney's Minute Men movie) and "Potential Breakup Song." I particularly like the songs "potential breakup song," "Like Woah," "Closure," and "Bullseye." They are both great musicians. Most of there songs are about relationships. The songs are truly amazing.
NOTE: This album is not targeted for younger children... more teen-age, some of the songs younger children might not relate to (like "Closure"... they don't even know what that means!) Pre-teen and teenage girls would much rather enjoy this CD than 6 year olds!!!!!!!
not that great... October 4, 2008 J. Yoon (California, USA)
I think that Into the Rush would be a much better choice. I don't believe that they are too good with ballad or slow type songs. If you're looking for that, check out other singers. The only songs that I liked are "Potential Break up Song" (which got irritating after a while), Bullseye, and the remix of Chemicals React. The rest didn't have anything special, and didn't stick in my head like most great songs do.
best ever August 20, 2008 i thought that Aly & AJ weren't that until i got this i now LOVE all the songs like "bullseye" you would be smart to buy this just try it its only 9.95
