| Editorial Reviews:
Amazon.com Like Spinal Tap, the Rutles, and even the Bonzo Dog Band, Tenacious D manage to send up rock conventions while employing them expertly. The soundtrack to their first full-length motion picture mixes songs and bits from the movie, but it plays like a hilarious concept album more than anything. Dave Grohl and (one half of the) Dust Brothers--who played on the D's delicious 2001 debut--are here joined by Meat Loaf and Ronnie James Dio. The title song navigates power balladry from the late '80s and early '90s in ways most awesome, while also throwing in a bridge that rips on faux-mystical elf-progisms of '70s stadium rock. At times the songs get a bit too meta (e.g. "He who is groovy must be in my movie"), but quibbling about self-referentiality when it comes to a fake band that calls itself "The Greatest Band on Earth" and who sings that their movie is "better than-uh Citizen Kane-uh" is perhaps to not have much of a sense of humor. --Mike McGonigal More from Tenacious D and Jack Black Tenacious D: The Pick of Destiny (Limited Edition) | Tenacious D | Tenacious D The Pick of Destiny: The Greatest Movie Tie-In Book in the World | Tenacious D: The Complete Master Works (DVD) | Nacho Libre (DVD) | School of Rock (DVD) |

The Fun Of The Pick Of Destiny To Go January 13, 2010 Cerebellum This is a great sound track that anyone who liked the movie will enjoy listening to. It has all the tracks played in the movie, plus a few fun extras. The sound quality is very good. The music is great, and the lyrics are hilarious. The parental advisory warning does not lie. There is just as much horrific language on the soundtrack as there is in the movie. But I do mind mind the language that much, I feel it adds to the quirkiness of the lyrics. So, if you enjoyed the movie, you will love he soundtrack. It has all the fun of The Pick of Destiny to go.
Tenacious D The Pick of Destiny December 21, 2009 James A. Kovash (Arizona) I love Jack Black but the language is terrible on this CD. It was distracting from the music.
The D is bad aaasssss! August 28, 2009 Lyle Weiser (Mission Hills, CA USA) Tenacious D is acoustic rock and roll, heavy metal comedy. This CD soundtrack plays so fast that I just listen to it over and over. A must buy. If you didn't see the movie, "Tenacious D and the Pick of Destiny" then get that too.
NEVER GOT IT July 10, 2009 Jose E. Rojas Vazquez (Pue, MEXICO) 0 out of 3 found this review helpful
I bought this record along with the other Tenacious D album on the same day, but this one I never recieved... so I really can't comment until I got it again... Til then, bad review!
Tenacious D does it again!! May 21, 2009 A.M. Stein This movie is pretty much a history of how Tenacious D came to be. It is full of great one liners and a couple of great cameos. The dynamic between Jack Black and Kyle Gass is great. It is recommended for anyone who is a fan of The D and also should be seen by anyone who is unfamiliar with the group but enjoys other 2 man novelty acts such as Flight of the Conchords.
