A worthy addition to the country Christmas collection, this succinctly titled album combines respect for tradition with contemporary inspiration. "Winter Wonderland" features a Western swing arrangement and country references in the lyrics, "Away in a Manger" has a Cajun feel, and the "Jingle Bells" instrumental benefits from an injection of rockabilly twang (as does Paisley's revival of Buck Owens's "Santa Looked a Lot Like Daddy"). Among the original material that distinguishes the collection, "Penguin, James Penguin" is like "Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer" for the higher-tech generation, as Santa enlists a "secret-agent bird" to keep computerized tabs on who deserves what. "Born on Christmas Day" features a tape of a song Paisley wrote and initially recorded when he was 13, then segues into the artist today on the same tune. The album closes with a slam at political correctness on "Kung Pao Buckaroo Holiday," with the Kung Pao Buckaroos (a.k.a. George Jones, Bill Anderson, and "Little" Jimmy Dickens) discovering that they get bleeped every time they mention "Chxxxxmas." --Don McLeese

I absolutely love Brad Paisley and I love what he has done with these great xmas songs!!He's given these old favorites a country make over while still keeping the spirit of Christmas.
He includes an excellent version of Buck Owens classic Santa Looked A Lot Like Daddy-this will get your feet tapping!And the most amazing version of Away In A Manger I have ever heard-between Brads voice and electric guitar plus the fantastic fiddle arrangement you will just fall in love with this one.There's a great chilled out version of I'll Be Home For Christmas and Winter Wonderland.Brad also includes 3 new songs that he wrote for this cd,the standout one been Born On Christmas Day which he wrote at just 13.The song begins with Brad at 13 singing the song with just his acoustic guitar then transforms into the Brad of today,it really showcases just what an amazing voice he really has!!
He finishes up the album with the classic Silver Bells and the truly hilarious Kung Pao Buckaroo Holiday with the infamous Kung Pao Buckaroos(Bill Anderson,George Jones and Little Jimmy Dickens)The perfect way to end this brilliant festive album.
This will be a xmas album that you will enjoy for years to come...

This is a really delightful CD, I am so glad that I bought it. It is a must have for Christmas even though it was more expensive than the Kenny Chesney Christmas CD, which is also a must have! I don't have a bad word to say about Brad's or Kenny's Christmas CD's. All I can say is treat yourself to them, as you won't regret it and you'll have some great Christmas music to play. Both done with warmth, affection, and laughs!
