Crushing August 21, 2009 Robin Solsjö Höglund (Skellefteå, Sweden) When I was first browsing around about Cannibal Corpse, I came upon the album artwork for Kill. And even though Vince Locke has made some fantastic artwork in the past (Butchered at Birth still being my very favourite), I was stricken by this. It simply says "Kill" in big letters, black on red. "Holy [...], that's brilliant! What more do you need to say?". Something about that little four letter word holds just as much power as grisly demons and mutilated bodies.
And then there's the album itself - it's devastating. The opening track is one of the most extreme, vicious, fast and powerfully sonic Cannibal Corpse songs ever, and George spits out the most fantastic lyrics at the speed of a madman. It's over in just two minutes, but yikes, those two minutes will floor you. The next track, "Make Them Suffer" is nice in its straight forward brutality, but again, the lyrics are really inspired here - there are actual words used, complicated at that. Who'd have figured? Later on we're treated to gems such as "Murder Worship", an incredibly potent and age-appropriate song dealing with religious murder, "Five Nails Through The Neck", about a man using his drugged victim as a plank of wood and "Death Walking Terror", a really steady and powerful song about the Reaper incarnate. There's also "The Discipline Of Revenge", going the opposite of most Cannibal Corpse songs - this time the killer is planning out his act in most meticulous detail, and I love it! The whole thing closes with a pretty decent instrumental track, "Infinite Misery".
Overall, Kill is an absolutely crushing listening experience. This is what death metal is all about, it rips you down to the ground from the very first second and doesn't let go. The lyrics are well written in both word and verse, and touch on actual subjects instead of being grisly for the sake of grisly. It's like Alex Webster and the gang really thought this one through, which is nice to see for once. My rating would be somewhere between 3.5 and 4.0.
People actually buy this excrement? March 8, 2009 J. Drown (Portland, Maine, USA) 1 out of 4 found this review helpful
This is one terrible album, along with everything this lame excuse for a band has released. Why do people keep purchasing this garbage? There is no variety in Cannibal Corpses "music". Here is the song format for all CC songs: a)about 10 seconds of some annoying and pointless guitar noises b)enter sloppy blast beats that don't stop until the end of the song c)retarded lyrics about raping babies and eating dead people d)sloppy guitar work and frantic grunting throughout. I realize that death metal is not known for great lyrics, but this stuff is just stupid. It's not scary, it's not gross, it's just plain STUPID. I wish I could give this less than one star.
damn ol'same music again ! I love it ! March 4, 2008 M. suh (usa) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I pick acdc when I give a party,
I pick sabbath if I need classics,
I pick led zep if I need meditations,
I pick pantera if neighbors play chopin,
I pick vital remains when I need recharging,
I pick "free wheel buring" when I hit the road,
I pick deicide when I need to feel I'm not alone,
The part that I want from CC, they are doing their best on it, and they are better than ever in this work. What do you expect? Dream Theatre or Malmsteen? you want your favorite football player to play tennis? CC is the most serious guys at least about their qualities in their work, so trust them, please.

despite being easily written off as realiable yet stagnant this album shows cannibal corpse as still being one of most relevant bands in the current metal scene. they're never going to jump on any new bandwagons or do anything impressively experimental but the subtle refinements they make to their style on each album, and by extension to the genre of true death metal, is something that is going to stand when flavor of the month bands are forgotten. there really is no rhythm guitar. the drumming holds down enough of a steady groove for both guitars to be free to constantly lay parts over it that would amount to lead breaks on most other riff-oriented bands albums but they are focussed enough to still feel like riffs. compared to their last album this might not be anything refeshing but compared to most of what's come out in the genre in the interim it is. the second most progressive modern metal album of 2006, after Anaal Nahtrakh's Eschaton.
There are no extra tracks on this import! September 9, 2007 Maiden USA (Portland, Oregon United States) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
The heading says there are extra tracks on this import, however the track listing is the same as the version I bought the day it came out here in America. Don't waste your money on the import, just buy the domestic release. By the way this is a killer album, death metal at it's finest!
