Amazon.com essential recording What Highway to Hell has that Back in Black doesn't is Bon Scott, AC/DC's original lead singer who died just months after this album was released. Scott had a rusty, raspy, scream of a voice, like he might break into a coughing fit at any moment. In other words, on crunchy, hook-heavy metal classics like the title track, and on "Get It Hot" which is more roadhouse rock than metal, he had the perfect instrument for such wild-living anthems. Too perfect, it turned out. --David Cantwell
Album Description AC/DC's 1979 album digitally remastered and reissued in a special digipak plus a 16 page full color booklet containing all original album art, many unpublished photos, classic memorabilia and new 2003 liner notes. Epic.

Rock and Roll forever January 31, 2010 John I. Stoeppel (Aurora Colorado USA) One of the best rock and roll albums to ever be put out. Bon Scott saved teh best for last, even though he did not know it was his last. Angus young shows his true talent with his raging guitar. There are so many recognizable song on this album that as soon as you hear the start it is easy to know it is AC/DC. I love this album and even if some of the lyrics trail off in directions that most people do not want to hear they stand by themselves as great music.
One of the best hard rock albums ever made January 13, 2010 Warren Lee Lynch This album should get 20 stars , one of the best hard rock albums ever made. Every track is a winner. Sure this album was a bit more radio friendly than all that came before it but it`s still the same balls to wall stomping AC/DC with clearer background vocals and much better production thanks to Mutt Lange. Back In Black was an incredible album due to what the band had to endure to make it but Highway To Hell is AC/DC finest moment.
ac/dc,s highway to hell classic is one of they,re all time best!! December 11, 2009 Paul Mcguinn (chicago il usa.) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
ac/dc,s highway to hell was released 30 some years ago in 1979.highway to hell was the first ac/dc album produced by famous rock producer; mutt lange and the result of ac/dc teaming up with mutt was and is a very strong classic album!!unfortuneatly highway to hell was singer bon scott,s last album with ac/dc.several months after this album,s release and the highly succesful highway to hell tour, bon scott was found dead in his car.i wish i would have seen ac/dc on this tour!to my ears even thirty years after it,s release it still sounds great...it is gritty up in your [face]kicka@@ rock!this album is one of ac/dc,s best in my opinion from the title cut;highway to hell to..girls got rhythm, shot down in flames, get it hot,if you want blood, beating around the bush and finally the dark, cool, bluesy and creepy;nightprowler, this album smokes!! night prowler is one of my favorites on the album from it,s sinister lyrics the song seems to become darker and more evil!!it seem,s bon scott sort of diffused the evil theme of night prowler with the famous and kinda corny [shalzbut nanu, nanu.] at the very end of night prowler.as an ac/dc fan i think this album is essential!! after this great album came the next ac/dc classic..back in black!
The Best AC/DC Album! September 26, 2009 Reijo Piippula (Turku, Finland) 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
Before Bon Scott died, he managed to make a great classic with AC/DC. Although AC/DC had made great albums like "High Voltage" and "Let There Be Rock", Highway to Hell was even better and more "sinful". In my opinion Bon had better voice for AC/DC than the present singer. The powerful title track, "Girls Got Rhythm", and "Touch Too Much" are maybe the best-known tracks in this album. I really love the other songs too. "Walk All Over You" and "Beating Around the Bush" are very clever and humorous tracks. "Shot Down In Flames" is pure AC/DC as its best. "Get It Hot" and the dark "Night Prowler" are my least favorite tracks in this album but still they are very good. "If You Want Blood (You've Got It)" was also the title tracks of their live album which was released before "Highway to Hell". I don't know many songs that would be released after the album of the same name but at least "Houses of the Holy" by Led Zeppelin and "For the Sake of Revenge" are other examples. "Love Hungry Man" another, beautiful, quite slow track. Well, a great album from AC/DC, and no wonder it is usually in top100 all-time best rock album lists.
Stars: Highway to Hell, Girls Got Rhythm, Touch Too Much
