Amazon.com's Best of 2001 Anyone who's purchased one of Mary J. Blige's albums understands that the "queen of hip-hop soul" would much rather push artistic envelopes than lick 'em. With No More Drama, her enlisting of hip-hop's finest beat-makers to create lush musical soundscapes is nothing short of genius. On the Dr. Dre-produced "Family Affair," Blige implores the club set to "get crunk 'cause Mary's back" as she introduces some new slang to the hip-hop vernacular ("holleration"). "Steal Away" is a classic Neptunes-induced head-nodder in the "Love Is All We Need" vein, as Pharrell Williams chimes in a Curtis Mayfield-like falsetto. Those who like their R&B straight might be offended by the acoustic guitar solo by Lenny Kravitz on "PMS," or the album's title track, which samples the theme from The Young and the Restless soap opera. But listen to "Where I've Been" (a redemptive tale of Blige's not-so-rapid ascent from the 'hood, featuring guest raps from Eve) and the Missy Elliott-assisted "Never Been," and misgivings vanish. Whereas past Mary J. efforts were limited to tales of relationships gone awry, her outlook is more diverse and upbeat, while her scratchy, bluesy vocals have become more expansive, too. She raps on "Love," scats on "Beautiful Day," chats on the a cappella "Forever No More," and caps No More Drama with a string of uplifting ballads ("2 U," "In the Meantime"), neatly polishing off a release that will stand as one of the best of 2001. --Dalton Higgins

Best Album Ever!!! December 23, 2009 Jessie (Saginaw, MI USA) Coming from 2010 looking back to 2001 just to review this album means a lot just by that action. I feel that this is Mary's best work over Breakthrough and My Life. This album words are sooo true about life and Ms. Mary J. Blige put her heart and soul in this album. I am really obessed and addicted to this album.
Here Is A Breakdown of Every Song With Stars:
1. Love-5 Stars
Great Song with lyrics and the beat is awsome(Should've been a single)
2. Family Affair-5 stars
Mary and Dre did they're thang with this song and those words are crazy-It was her 1st #1 Billboard Song.
3. Steal Away-5 Stars
Pharrel did good but those words were so good and Mary's ad-libs were the best.
4. He Think I Don't Know-5 Stars
Great Song
5. PMS-4 Stars
I can't participate with this song-I am not a girl----
6. No More Drama-5 Stars
Personal testimony of her life and my life
7. Rainy Dayz- 4 Stars
I feel that Keep It Movin' should've not been tooken off for the re-release, but Rainy Dayz is a great song
8. Where I've Been-3 Stars
The worst song on the album, but Mary put her true life in this song but is a nice song and it features EVE.
9. Beautiful Day-5 Stars
Beautiful song to get your spirit up after a bad day.
10. Dance 4 Me-5 Stars
Common worked his 2 verses on this song and is a very cheerful song to get you ready for the club or school.
11. No More Drama-Remix- 5 Stars
I hate P. Diddy but this song is the only song ever made in the 2000's that I like. A great reprise to No More Drama the song.
12. Flying Away-5 Stars
This song is great and I loved it every since I heard it. It kind of gets you in that mood and is mellow and nice. My favorite 2nd song on the album. Great song to get you in the mood for the ballads coming up.
13. Never Been-5 Stars
Never Been is produced by Missy Elliot and is great song. Mary once again did her thing.
14. 2U-100000 Stars
2 U is the best song in the world to me and those lyrics are soo great. Every since I heard that song I could not stop listening to it. She killed that song and it sould've been a single for real.
15. In the Meantime-5 Stars
A Great Song and a good ballad streak ender.
16. Forever No More-5 Stars
I think is like the best poem I've ever heard. Beautiful words and a great testimony...
17. Testimony-5 Stars
I thank God for giving Mary J. this song. This song really inspired me, just like her song My Life. Very helpful after a bad day.
No More Drama, the album gets you in the mood for school, work, the club, anything. These songs' lyrics, harmonies, and melodies are the best fit for this album. So great to know there is some good music out there that anybody can relate to at any time. Thank you God for this gift you sent Mary J. Blige.

Mary J. Blige February 7, 2007 Tah Tah (Bronx, NY USA) This is a great album! It's like Mary's "My Life" album where you can relate to the songs.
..beautiful! December 29, 2006 W. E. Phillips (USA) 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
I hadn't listened to this CD for a while for some reason. Boy was I missing out! This is one of, if not my absolute, favorite Mary J. albums. It is truly beatiful. Her vocals on here are wonderful, the production is great. Every single song is great!
I actually like the original version a little bit better. I would recommend finding the original and buying it along with this one. This re-release is still great and the new songs keep the quality and integrity of the album. (That is very rare with re-issues.)
I definitely recommend this, along with the original if you can find it. This is one of my all time favorite albums.
