Credit Sisqó for avoiding the sophomore slump and sidestepping formula on his rugged and soulful latest. Blessed with a powerful, dare one say overwrought voice, Sisqó has the power to make the phone book (or ditties about undergarments) sound intense. But with the help of Teddy Riley, among others, on Return of Dragon he's working with more interesting material. The single "Can I Live" vibrates with a fierce wiggle, while the heartfelt ballad "Close Your Eyes" is pure hankie material. Of course, this being a Sisqó CD, you have to endure tracks (the first two) in which Sisqó essentially pays homage to his own genitalia. Program the CD player. --Amy Linden

4 out of 5 stars Sisqo returns for an surprisingly decent sophomore effort. Doesn't ...   March 3, 2008
    Adrian the Complex Lonely (USA)
...necessarily touch the debut, but the standouts here are actually better...if that makes ANY SENSE.

Without You is a nice plea from Sisqo, out to a lover that he wouldn't be the same without them and that life wouldn't be right with them missing. "I'm free to fly like a bird/over the earth/far away" "When I envision your eyes/you light up the sky/Holding my dreams/and then cry..."
    "Hiding so alone/Feeling all alone"
"Story(ies)/from a valley so low/to a mountain so high/what a life..." <--- my favorite line by him, EVER. This is also the best song Sisqó has ever put out solo-ly.
    "I can do without/material things/I can do without/diamond rings."

He screams a lot in this song but the words hit me hard so I still think it's his best recorded song as a solo act.

The problem with these tracks is the lyrics sometimes and the production. A lot of the time. Trust me.

The intro track is fine. Not Afraid is decent too. Like the lyrics about how he's been through so much and having trouble keeping friends. Infatuated is average....blah. Can I Live is no classic, but it's a contemporary keeper. Without You is good. Dance For Me is cute. Dream is a great outro. The other golden track here. The rest is pretty forgettable overall.

    Intro - 7.5/10 (3.75/5)
    Not Afraid - 8.5/10 (4.25/5)
    Infatuated - 6/10 (3/5)
    Can I Live - 8.5/10 (4.25/5)
    Without You - 9/10 (4.5/5)
    Dance For Me - 9/10 (4.5/5)
    Dream - 10/10 (5/5)

    3.85 stars.

    3 out of 5 stars ok   November 23, 2007

I only very recently got this cd. I didnt love or hate it. It could have been longer. The problem with Sisqo is that he needs to be toned down some. Lose the colorful hair, the braids and all the flipping and you'll have a great artist. He has the voice and the body. Not too bad looking either. All he needs is great material and he'll turn it out. The market is over saturated with mediocre singers - male & female. He could be the total package if somebody would just take the time to mold him. Give him that one great song and I truly believe he would blow everybody else out the water!!

1 out of 5 stars Looking back on Sisqo...   May 14, 2006

Today 2006 I can say that this album is one of the worse I ever purchased. If you are thinking about buying it today...please don't. You are better off buying his debut album or any of the Dru Hill albums, exept for that last one off course cause that sucks too. Buying this album will only teach you why he's out of the spotlights.

ok, there are maybe three songs that are worth something but then again, those aren't timeless.

    4 out of 5 stars A unknown goodie   March 25, 2006
Matthew S. Ludwig (Powell, TN, USA)
Sadly, this CD did get much publicity and most people don't know about it. This CD was probably the best of the two Sisqo CDs that were released, the first was only good because of the Thong Song hit. On this CD, Sisqo really shows his talent, in creating beats and his lyrics. The beats will surely have you dancing, and it will bring back Sisqo memories. This CD is an oldie but goodie, and I suggest picking it up.
