    Editorial Reviews:

Their formula is simple enough--equal parts teenage humor and brattiness combined with infectious guitar hooks that just beg to be cranked up on the stereo. But with Take Off Your Pants and Jacket, the guys in Blink 182 may have delivered their best album to date, a punk-pop fusion that's so consistent you'll wonder which of the 13 tracks will become radio hits (any has the chance, really). Yes, as with Dude Ranch and Enema of the State, the songs here revolve around falling in love ("The Rock Show," "First Date"), falling out of love ("Online Songs," "Happy Holidays, You Bastard"), and plenty of other ways to kill time while away from school ("Reckless Abandon"). And yes, these guitar-driven songs all pretty much sound the same, but Take Off never gets boring. There's too much nervous energy here, too many slight variations in the arrangements, and too many hilarious lyrics that you won't want to miss. Parents may remember that the Buzzcocks used this same shtick in the late '70s, older siblings may remember that Green Day did it well not so many years ago, but Blink fans know that their band is more clever than anyone else playing today. The bonus tracks are throwaways, but that's OK--the threesome have given us plenty to bop our heads to here. --Jason Verlinde

5 out of 5 stars Great CD   May 18, 2009
    C. Wiselka (Ohio USA)
The album was a huge success debuting at #1 and selling more than 350,000 copies in its first week on the Billboard 200 becoming the band's first and only album to do so, and is Blink-182's second best selling album.

Besides their Greatest Hits. This cd is Blink's best one. Shut Up and Rollercoaster are 2 great songs that were never released as singles. Enjoy!

5 out of 5 stars Teenage listing   August 23, 2008
    Zachary D. Furr (IN, Indianapolis)
This is the follow-up to Enema Of The State. This a concept album, based on a teenager. The three singles they released was The Rock Show. It is about a guy wanting to be with his girl and saying he met her at a rock show, the music video has nothing to do with the song. Stay Together For The Kids is a song about a divorced couple and the kid is wishing they would stay together for him. First Date is about wishing their date will last forever. For some other tracks, Story Of A Lonely Guy is about a guy thinking he is stupid because he cant get a girl. Anthem Part 2 is about thinking teens are stupid, but their not. Reckless Abanded is about teens just partying and being stuipid with having no regrets. Give Me One Good Reason is about a teen feeling like an outkast and doesnt want to be a apart of the different clicks. Shup Up is about a kid having problems with his parents and wants to run away. This a very good sequel to enema of the state. They are very much alike

4 out of 5 stars Not punk but very catchy pop   August 12, 2007
    John Allsopp (Seattle, WA USA)
This is reasonably close to real pop punk, but the corporate distribution and wayyyy to shiny production put in squarely in the pop section. But hey, it's still a really fun listen, replete with almost instantly hum-able melodies that make this music great. Just don't buy this and think you're some kind of punk or rebel because you will be a total poser. For real pop/punk with an honest basement/DIY attitude get Crimpshrine and some early Jawbreaker. Without those two bands Green Day and Blink would have never even existed.
