Memories February 3, 2010 Louis B. Rizzo (Huntsville, AL) I originally ordered the CD to balance out shipping. I played the CD and was very pleased with the selections. Memories of the Latin music made me feel good. I am happy that I bought this CD.
You Can't Keep a Good Thing Down April 9, 2009 Deus Caritas Est 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Being a 30 year old Catholic, I can truly appreciate the beauty of Tradition captured in these stirring masterpieces. After completing a Humanities course in Medieval and Renaissance Art during my last year at a State Univ. I was blown away by what I realized was a forgotten and neglected treasure of Catholicism - Its Sacred Music, Art, and Architecture.
This CD hits it out of the park with a collection of rare and beautiful Catholic hymns that you won't get in other CD's. A glance at some of these nearly forgotten hymns include: 'O Sanctissima' and 'Adoramus Te, Christe'. Listen to these 2 samples provided by Amazon and you will see why they are Classics. This CD lifts the veil to treasures of our Catholic Faith suppressed for decades by forces at work in the modern era Catholic Church.
Why modernists decided to deprive my generation of our Catholic heritage and richness of our Faith, only God knows, but I don't want to be in their place when they stand before Him. The time for revival is here. The richness of 2009 years of Catholicism cannot be kept away from the youth forever. My return to the Faith was thanks in part to this collegiate and objective study of the sacred traditional art, architecture, and music of Our Fathers in Faith. These treasured aspects of our Faith spoke volumes to me about how our predecessors honored and worshiped God - and I wanted in ever since. This CD fully captures the sacred music of our Faith that was nearly discarded by our folksy American quizlings of recent years. Include this CD in your library and join the REAL Catholic revival!
Soothing and spiritual January 17, 2009 JiJi (Seattle, WA USA) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I hope this very personal review will be helpful to others. I bought this CD for my father during his final days. He listened to it every evening before he went to sleep. It afforded him great comfort and peacefulness through all of his pain and suffering. As for me, I was transported to the Catholic masses I loved as a child and the fond memories of my family. Although I am no longer "religous" per se, the music was soothing and spiritually transcendental, helping us both through that most difficult and profound time. It will remain one of my most cherished treasures.
What a treat ! January 11, 2009 Rose Lover (San Diego, CA) This album contains an inspiring selection of Latin hymns that will evoke loving memories of Catholic Church music heard regularly before 1960. The selection of artists and choral groups are perfectly suited to these church music classics of the past. I have played it dozens of times and consider it one of my all-time favorites.
Truly Classic November 15, 2008 Lex Orandi A truly outstanding CD! This album is graced with inspirational authentic Catholic classics like 'O Sanctissima' and 'Adoramus Te, Christe'. The two versions of 'Tantum Ergo' are absolutely soul stirring especially Track 19. Unlike the Cathedral Singers' other works entitled 'Catholic _ _ _ Classics' that include modern tunes, this CD is authentically classic and authentically Catholic from beginning to end. If you're looking for authenticity in your Catholic music you will absolutely enjoy every note sung in this CD! Guaranteed.
