Yes, it's another group of five young white boys making dance-influenced pop that makes the girls scream. Not only is the makeup of this group familiar, their sound is almost a clone of fellow teenybopper dreams the Backstreet Boys. It's probably not surprising, considering that they share the same manager (who had all five members of '80s preteen scream machine New Kids on the Block as the best men at his wedding, natch). The resemblance is a little too close for comfort, however, with almost every track here mirroring one on the Backstreet Boys album. From the radio hit "I Want You Back" and the sugary harmonizing on ballads like "God Must Have Spent a Little More Time on You" to the one step forward, two steps back approach to sex appeal on "Giddy Up," 'N Sync--or their producers--have crafted the perfect balance of catchy pop ditties and swoon-inducing slow jams. --Rebecca Wallwork

1 out of 5 stars Never saw what the big deal was with this????   November 17, 2009

Believe me, I have nothing against N'Sync (I love "Bye Bye Bye") and I think Justin Timberlake is very talented and is doing great in his solo career, and all of the guys can sing, AND I adore bubblegum pop from the 90's, but this album did not do anything for me. There was not a single song I liked.

    5 out of 5 stars It's a good album   June 23, 2009

Now *NSYNC will never go down in history as the artists who changed the music scene or saved any genre, but more than ten years after this album has come out, it still works. These were five singers who would hit the right notes and put in a bit of their own style. They had a nice five part harmony. They do a lot of songs that had already been done, "Sailing," "Everything I Own," et al. However, these are good songs, and these are good reinterpretations of good songs.

Like all pop groups, there are the much more uptempo tunes, "Here We Go" "I Want You Back," and many more, but they also have the soft side, showed on "God Must Have Spent A Little More Time on You," along with other songs.

*NSYNC might not play any instruments other than voice (at least on these albums; Justin Timberlake plays guitar and bass, JC Chasez plays guitar and piano, Lance Bass plays piano, Chris Kirkpatrick plays guitar, and Joey Phatone plays drums), but the electronic back-up band isn't bad. It's good pop, and there will always be teen heartthrob artists, whether we like it or not.

*NSYNC will probably go down in history as one of those teen heartthrob artists, but there isn't anything wrong with that. That's how the Beatles got their start.

    5 out of 5 stars C'mon, who doesn't love nsync???   December 26, 2008

C'mon, even if you're a grown adult by now or whatever, you have got to admit that you loved nysnc at one time! This was the music of the late 90s and I miss it so much! My favorite songs on this album were tearing up my heart and i want you back. These were so fun and upbeat and they were great to dance and sing to. Too bad rap music has taken over.

3 out of 5 stars Many hits on this album   April 1, 2008
Mikeisha Best (Mitchellville, Maryland United States)
It has been ten years since NSYNC was introduced to the world (they came out in 1998), but I remember vividly when they first debuted. They were one of the biggest pop crazes ever. I remember a classmate from middle school who was completely obsessed with them. She inundated her notebook with photos, interviews and articles containing them. I know I am extremely late, but I finally picked up their first album. I was listening to it and it brought back a slew of memories from a good time in my life. Hits like "God Must Have Spend a Little More Time on You", "Tearing Up My Heart", "I Drive Myself Crazy" and "I Want You Back" completely took over radios and video channels everywhere.

I enjoyed all of the songs that were released from this album. Those songs, like most of the album, are PURE POP and, at times, extremely corny, but hey, who doesn't have a few guilty pleasures? One thing I appreciate about these men is the fact that they harmonize very well. When they go into their solos, that is when you are enabled to see the weaknesses within their voices. "Tearing Up My Heart" has a very infectious hook and nice beat. The men of NSYNC do a nice job executing the song and it was a huge hit. "I Drive Myself Crazy" is one of the best moments on this album. I really like this ballad and its video. In the video, the NSYNC men were in straight jackets, classic! "You Got It", "Giddy Up" and "Crazy for You" are the weakest tracks here, but they are alright.

If you enjoyed the music scene in circa 1998, do buy this album because it will resurface a plethora of memories for you to hold on to. Also, a lot of these songs will have you dancing. Good investment.

    Mikeisha's Top 5

    1. "Tearing Up My Heart"
    2. "I Drive Myself Crazy"
    3. "I Just Wanna Be With You"
    4. "I Need Love"
    5. "God Must Have Spend A Little More Time on You"

I just bought this CD to get my Cockatoo to dance to it like the Cockatoo on the blogs. He started to, but never quite got the hang of it.
