    1 out of 5 stars A waste of time   January 16, 2007
    R. Peters (Pittsburgh, PA)
This album is a joke. Seriously, I play it now for friends and they are dumbfounded that this was actually produced. The orchestrations are cheesy to say the least and the vocals are reminiscent of a high school production. Brooke Shields does an admirable job, especially with "There are Worse Things" but most of the arrangements are lackluster or downright ridiculous. Just listen to "Greased Lighting" and you'll understand. Don't waste you time or money, buy the original movie soundtrack, you'll be glad you did.

    4 out of 5 stars T.V. stars on Broadway?   June 3, 2006
    C. Salenger (Redlands, Ca.)
This cast is so professional and so phenomenal--they made these classic songs their own, and performed them like we've never heard them. However, Brooke Shields unfortunately sounds like a high school performer next to the others. It's too bad that these stars are cast for their name over their talent.

    4 out of 5 stars 1994 Grease Broadway w/ 1995 Tracks feat. Brooke Shields   January 28, 2005

It's definitely not the movie, but you should have taken the hint when you read "Broadway."
In a lot of ways, the Broadway performance is better. There is more of a story to it, and therefore more songs. The performers sound surprising good, especially the voices of "Sandy" and "Danny". Brooke Shields can sing, but I can't help but feel that "Rizzo" needs a more gutteral, edgey voice.
Overall, this is a great performance, and I'd recommend it to anyone looking for either a Grease recording or just a good musical.

3 out of 5 stars Brooke Shields and the revival of GREASE   December 28, 2004

This second cast album to the successful 1994 Broadway revival of GREASE! is quite fine, with Brooke Shields a surprisingly-good Betty Rizzo.

This recording was made purely to capatalise on Brooke Shields replacing Rosie O'Donnell as Rizzo. Her vocals were dubbed over the pre-existing O'Donnell tracks, so apart from Shields the rest of the cast album remains the same.

Miss Shields gives Rizzo a softer, more human edge (her rendition of "There Are Worse Things I Could Do" is quite moving), and she has a ball with the mocking "Look At Me, I'm Sandra Dee".

Ricky Paull Goldin and Susan Wood are great as the central characters Danny and Sandy, with Megan Mullally belting it to the back row as Marty with "Freddie My Love"; and CHICAGO's Marcia Lewis as the addled headmistress Miss Lynch.

With Brooke Shields currently back on Broadway in WONDERFUL TOWN (the cast album of which will be re-released with Shields's added vocals), this GREASE! album will be in great demand.

Im such of fan of the show " Will and Grace" and then i relized when i was listening to my Broadway Grease soundtrack Meagan Mullaly ( who is Karen on will and grace) plays marty, who sings freddy, my love. which made me love the cd even more....i feel everyone on the soundtrack is a strong singer and i love the cd alot, i would suggest it to anyone....i like the brooke shields version 10 times better then the rosie o'donnel version ,even thouigh its the same cast exept the role of rizzo , we all knwo rosie o'donnel cant sing so that makes that album less enjoyable..... So my vote is for this grease album
