Great Comeback February 4, 2010 LaRay Strait (Frostproof,FL USA) I am going to make this review short and sweet and to the point. "Bedtime Stories" was the album released after "Erotica." It is a fact that Madonna lost quite a few fans and was highly criticized after her Erotica album release along with her book titled "Sex." So you are probably wondering what this previous album has to do with this review? Well, Bedtime Stories softened Madonna's image since her previous album distorted her image and cost her quite a few fans. I feel like Bedtime Stories was a very complete album for Madonna; however as stated this album was to "clean Madonna's image up from her previous criticized album." I feel like this album was not recognized for how good it was. Hit songs off this album include: (In order of how they were released)
1.Secret 2. Take A Bow 3. Bedtime Story 4. Human Nature. My personal all-time favorite song is off this album and that is "Take A Bow." I Hope this helped!
Wake Up 2 Bedtime Stories January 30, 2010 zooni (long beach ,ca) Bedtime Stories is one of madonna's best albums considering there is only one odd track (I'd Rather B Ur Lover) which sounds dated and more like a demo. A remix and a better beat with samples could have saved this song from filler heaven. Having recently listened to the whole cd track by track, I like every song. Luv Tried 2 Welcome Me and Sanctuary are less known songs which I used to avoid but they r actually cool tracks with a chill trip hop vibe that puts u in a trance. Some of my fave Madonna songs r included like "Inside of Me" and "Secret". I also like the song Bedtime Story, Madonna's Bjork experience. Human Nature has the classic line "I'm not ur beotch don't blame ur S@#$ on me". I'm sure evry1 can relate 2 that and it comes in handy if some1 is disrespecting u.....Thanks Madonna!
A musical powderpuff. Lovely. December 1, 2009 Music lover. (England.) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
When I first heard this years ago, on its release, I wasn't impressed. In fact not keen at all. But, I realise now I just wasn't ready for it then. Now I think it's sublime. Laid back, late night, chilled R&B. I'd say the perfect chilled R&B album. So relaxing and soothing to listen to. I agree with the reviewer who said Madonna was ahead of her time with this one. Way ahead. A sheer delight to listen to.
The only track I'm not keen on is Take A Bow. For some reason it's never appealed to me and I really do not think it fits in well with the rest of the album. Maybe that's why they've tagged it on at the end, but I really wish it had not been included at all. It seems to have a different musical vibe to the rest, but there you go, I'm sure there are those who feel entirely differently, this is just my own personal point of view. Anyhow, this album is great to just relax and wind down to, perfect for calming the mind, whenever you feel in the need of some peace or just before drifting off to sleep. All right to listen to with company but may be preferable when alone, for some needed 'me' time to breathe deep and feed the soul. Madonna is such a versatile artiste and this album has become one of my favourites of hers, for when I'm in the mood for this type of chilled music. Confessions, Ray of Light, Music, and Erotica are all good, never keen on True Blue, but this kind of flowing sultry mood is something she should explore more often I feel, I'd love her to do another album in the same or similar vein. Lovely.
Madonna ... BEDTIME STORIES (1994) October 5, 2009 Chad DeFeo (Philadelphia, PA.) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
In October of 1994, Madonna released her ninth album entitled, BEDTIME STORIES. This album features a completely different sound than her previous albums. This album features a mixture of mid-'90s Pop, Smooth R&B, and Techno. This is another great album.
SURVIVAL
A great song about Madonna trying to survive in career. Whether it's Heaven or Hell, she's gonna be living to tell.
SECRET
The album's first single. This song is absolutely incredible. That acoustic guitar fused with a techno and R&B sound is, to me, the perfect combo. This is just a great song all together.
I'D RATHER BE YOUR LOVER (Performed by Madonna & Me'Shell NdegéOcello)
An okay song.
DON'T STOP
Great song.
INSIDE OF ME
This song is actually about Madonna's mother. What a great song.
HUMAN NATURE
The album's fourth & final single. Another awesome song. This was Madonna's response to the critics' hateful opinions of her during her sexual stints of 1992-1993. Love this song.
FORBIDDEN LOVE
A great song here. A really, really great song.
LOVE TRIED TO WELCOME ME
This another one of the prettiest ballads Madonna has ever recorded. One of my favorite Madonna songs.
SANCTUARY
Another great song.
BEDTIME STORY
The album's third single. This is a great song, and it is another one of my favorites. The music video is a "Bedtime Story" destined to give children nightmares for it's freakish and creepy atmosphere.
TAKE A BOW
The album's second single. Madonna had a really huge hit with this song. Almost everyone, if not everyone, took this song to their hearts. Even her most hateful critics took this song to their hearts. This is another one of Madonna's most beautiful and heartfelt ballads.
What an amazing album BEDTIME STORIES is. The album, in my opinion, and probably the opinions of other Madonna fans, is one of Madonna's most underrated and underappreciated albums. This album is a real treat for any and all Madonna fans.
Surprise Surprise I actually like this one August 29, 2009 Daniel Hayes 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
I almost gave up on this one because of the songs:"Secret", and "Take A Bow" these don't belong on here at least as far as I'm concerned. "Take A Bow" is one I would probably dance to if I was a zombie, and "Secret" is a rather moody little piece. However, it starts out strong with "Survival", and there were a couple of others noteworthy such as: "Love Tried To Welcome Me", and "Human Nature". She followed this up after "Erotica", and she really branced out with R&B, and Smooth Jazz sounds on this one. No brainless pop music, or controversial songs here. Just a honest to goodness pop album.
