A new meaning for "Rock Star" January 4, 2008 Bungalow Bill (Syracuse, NY USA) There are a lot of intriguing ideas in this book, like the notion that life bearing planets evolve species to ultimately protect the planet itself from asteroid and comet impacts, that natural selection favors traits like flight, speed, and ability to produce explosions as a form of symbiosis, where the planet benefits from human ability to deflect asteroids, while humans depend on the planet to live. In that sense Rock Prophecy examines the words, music and writings of Jimi Hendrix to theorize that Hendrix embodied a leap ahead in human evolution, to a new capability to sense asteroids aimed at the planet, a capacity for what scientists call "remote viewing," as if Hendrix's perceptions form a mutation towards this ability that's still latent or dormant in 99% of the population. Hendrix was obviously fixated on the threats that asteroids and comets pose, and it's interesting to see how organically the title "Rock Star" fits the function that Hendrix had of expressing this new awareness of "Rocks" in the "rock music" that he invented.
The book goes on to describe the obstacles and set backs that have prevented people from fully understanding the threat of asteroids until the past few decades. Society's ability to prevent a collision is still decades away, yet impact could happen at any time. It's those reasons why the awareness of the threat, and the effort to do something about it, took so long that the author calls the "retarding of history." According to Hendrix it is human priorities that were unfortunate throughout history, especially the talents of so many people that were squandered and wasted, and in many cases valuable people forced into impoverishment or stifled by cultural rules that prevented them from developing their abilities.
I bet this book would make a great documentary film if the right person directed it.
Best Understanding, Best Performance September 17, 2001 Gordon Neuberg (Massachusetts) 13 out of 16 found this review helpful
I'm a student from Mass. going to school in Rochester, NY where, on Sept. 1, 2001, I went to see Michael Fairchild play the music of Jimi Hendrix. The performance was fantastic. If you closed your eyes you'd swear it was Hendrix playing. At this show I learned of Fairchild's CD, titled "rockprophecy.com", and his book "Rock Prophecy." This book is exceptionally well written and pleasing to read. The stories are quite a surprise. Fairchild has unusual ways of seeing Hendrix. He combines this with new ways of thinking about religion and society. It strikes me as important research how these topics tie in with asteroids and Microsoft, and with rich people stealing credit for work done by others. But after hearing Fairchild play that Hendrix music, I realized he does have the best understanding of Hendrix. The audience in Rochester was extremely enthused. Fairchild can use his musical talent to get his views across, which is good because "Rock Prophecy" gives evidence of what looks like jealous people trying to twist and misrepresent what the author is saying. Fairchild is in a battle with people who resent his talent and reject the view that equality is necessary if society is to organize for survival. The research is published here with sources cited for an impressive amount of information. To me, Fairchild reminds of Arthur and the Sword in the Stone. The one who can play that magical music so well is the one who will be listened to. The answers found in "Rock Prophecy" are answers everyone needs to hear.

I haven't read this book so I'm sure opening my self to cries of hypcropsy (sp?) but I have read plenty of Mr. Fairchilds diatribes on the now defunct internet mailing list Hey Joe for a couple of years. It made no sense then & makes no sense now. Taking credit for the success of the Hendrix CD :Blues because the of the liner notes? Ah what about the music? I will say that I did enjoy the linear notes to :Blues but then all you need to do is read the notes to :Woodstock. Obviously :Blues notes where a fluke. And since when is an album being in the top Ten an indactor of quality? I'm sure thirty years from now instead of talking about Jimi Hendrix we will be talking about Britney Spears and the Microsoft connection. Ha ha.As far as being the original predictor of asteroid, I can't believe he is still going on about that. While NEO (near earth objects) including asteroids is a relatively new in the public arena, I guess scientists like Jan Ort & Kuipler working long before Faichild was born and working with some little thing called a telescope mean nothing. Oh I forget, recorded history begins with the birth of Mr. fairchild & Jimi Hendrix. I can't believe some one actually published a book of his nonsese. Oh I know. It is placed in the comedy section.
Highly Stimulating February 11, 2001 Ann DeCarlo (New York) 13 out of 16 found this review helpful
This book changed the way I see today's world. There are so many intense insights here, Mr. Fairchild's view of Jimi Hendrix is the most stimulating I've seen. But this book's explanations about the major religions of the world is most valuable to me. The sections on Constantine and how the Council of Nicea altered Jesus' fixation with equality should be seen by everyone. The idea of "Retarded History" is a major breakthrough. How this book gets to these topics out of it's starting point of presenting the asteroid prediction of Hendrix is a wonderful adventure in historical associations. It seems outrageous, almost frightening, that someone like Mr. Fairchild could try to show us amazing research about Hendrix's obsession with asteroids and then have a wealthy mogul like Paul Allen simply rip off the ideas, while at the same time attacking Fairchild. I think Michael is right, the "seers" are always "silenced" because what they see is unacceptable to the privilieged ruling class that controls the media. I'm telling everyone I know about this book.
~ Delusional demagoguery ~ December 8, 2000 Gayle Hansen (Seattle, WA USA) 5 out of 9 found this review helpful
It is indeed unfortunate that a tree or two gave its very all for the delusional demagoguery presented in these pages. The author obviously harbors a grandiose vision of himself, which is as far removed from the primary subject of this book as earth is to the center of this particular galaxy in which we presently find ourselves. If you really wish to learn more about Jimi Hendrix, don't waste your hard earned frogskins on this one. My advise would be to begin with _"Electric Gypsy,"_ and then, perhaps, the _"Jimi Hendrix: Sessions"_ book. If it would have been possible, I would not have given this book any rating stars. Hopefully when it is "remaindered," it may be rendered into the toilet paper which it truly already is.
