Garbage December 7, 2008 A. Hogan (Brooklyn, NY USA) 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
Poorly printed, poor edited, a quickie-let me cash in book[outside of her family, does anyone else care to see so many pictures of the author with John & June?} I bought this on an impulse, gave it away.Save your money, buy the legacy editions of Folsom and San Quentin or the American recordings, or the Sun Master takes, or Love God & Murder, or Rodney Clapps' interesting take on John Cash and america. This book is simply a sad, dishonest waste of trees.
Peggy Knight making money off the dead October 24, 2008 Autumn Rain (MI) 0 out of 2 found this review helpful
She just keeps pushing out the books, since her income and usefulness stopped upon their deaths, she is now once again getting her paycheck from the deceased cash's by tell alls, photos, cookbooks, and she'd dig up their grave and sell the clods off their caskets if money could be made. Housekeepers are not suppose to tell about employer's lives, that was private. But, by being the greedy, tell all suppose friend she made have illegally written without consent of the cash estate.
If peggy was such a wonderful addition to the cash's, why did she wait till after they died to start penning? Right down to the morsels of food they put in their mouth. Not "Mommie Dearest", but "Lowley Housekeeper Dearest". She left out the parts of how often she scrubbed their toliets, showers, and emptying trash. She was a housekeeper for God's sake. If such a close friend, why no privisions in the Cash's wills for her? She never helped with John cash jr, no she dusted their furniture, invaded private momentoes, and put herself up on a pedastal next to the Cash's. While Jhonny Cash was going blind, she probably went hog wild getting into photos and personal info. Shame on her!!!!! Her job ended 5 yrs ago, as a maid, not a close friend, just a wanna be.
Another book about Johnny Cash March 30, 2008 Strictly Cash. The Johnny Cash Tribute Band (Ireland) I had to think about how many stars to give this one. I've read numerous other books on the same subject, and this, I'm afraid, is not one of the better ones, but that is my opinion. For the fan, it has a certain reference value, detailing the Carter family history for instance, but the whole truth, as we now know it, is not told, by Peggy Knight, who it appears remains a faithful and trusted friend to Johnny and June. If you'ra a fan, you'll want this for your collection, if you want to find out all about the world of Johnny Cash, Amazon have a selection of books where you will find more detailed information.
Thank You August 26, 2007 Marcia Long (Langley, WA United States) 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
I for one enjoyed this book a lot ! I did not feel she was putting any one down and it was just the way she saw things. She had to be doing something right to last with them for thirty three years. Only John carter knows why he felt she had to be let go and I don't fault him for that either. I just really enjoyed the little inside story's that only she could tell. It was a lot better read than" I Was there When It Happened" I think any Cash-Carter fan would enjoy this book and hope life goes well for Peggy Knight. Marcia
Thank you Peggy for a heartwarming tribute. Loved your book. December 20, 2006 Billie Holliday (Concord, CA USA) 2 out of 7 found this review helpful
I think both E. Northrop's and Marcella Jessup's one-star ratings of this book are way off base, and they both miss the point entirely of what this book is all about. I found Peggy's story heartwarming and spiritual, and the negative criticisms of those two morons really makes my blood boil, especially the disgusting comment about Peggy wanting all the money. That reviewer should not judge other people by her own rotten set of standards. Obviously, there's not much substance to either of these idiots, and clearly each one has the mentality of a grape. I believe every word Peggy says. She is a good person. If she were not, John would have fired her years ago. But she was there for 33 years. She loved John and June, and they loved her. The person who triggered her termination was John Carter, and nobody else. And I have my own thoughts about that one. As for all the children of Cash/Carter, I do not feel there is any animosity written here about any of them, only the truth. And sometimes the truth is not pretty. But the truth IS the truth, so I say to those two reviewers, GET REAL. I deeply felt Peggy's pain in her final chapters, and haven't stopped crying since I read her book. Thank you, Peggy, for sharing your personal stories with us. Your book is a treasure.
