Much has been written about the Virgin Mother of Christ. Even more has been painted. This 64 page book presents 70 fine art paintings which tell the story of the Madonna. Paintings representing momentous events that marked her life: the Annunciation, the Christmas story, Mother and Child, our Lady of the Passion, Heaven's Queen.
Wonderful images from great masters: Botticelli, Raphael, Angelico, Leonardo, etc. Complimented by prose and poetry: Rosetto, Milton, Browning, etc. Celebrate her influence over Christian worshippers.
You can appreciate the driving devotion of the various artists in their endeavor to make visual the Holy Mother.
This is not an "art book" per-se. There are no editorials accompanying these paintings that would edify one regarding their individual art history. None-the-less a beautiful Christian art book for asthetic and meditative purposes.
