    Product Description

From Spice Girl to successful solo artist; from single sex-kitten to one half of the most famous and fascinating couple in the world; from mother-of-three to fashion designer and style icon, Victoria Beckham's life is never out of the headlines. Ever since she stormed onto the public arena on a wave of girl power, Victoria has worked tirelessly to become an international celebrity. But there is much more to her than glossy photo shoots, trend-setting hairstyles, and celebrity friendships and feuds. She began her incredible journey as an ambitious teenager with her heart set on fame and fortune, and never gave up until she reached the top. This is Victoria’s life unveiled, including the death threats, the kidnap attempts, rumors of surgery, and the gossip surrounding her marriage and health. The secrets behind her sensational rise to fame are revealed, as is the inside story of the Beckhams' move from Madrid to Los Angeles.

    4 out of 5 stars Interesting   November 25, 2008
This book begins with Victoria Beckham's childhood and chronicles her early drive to be a performer, her audition with the Spice Girls, meeting David Beckham, the meteoric success of the Spice Girls, the birth of her son and fairy tale wedding to David Beckham. It also describes her struggles to launch a solo singing career after the Spice Girls, her early foray into the fashion industry, the accusations of her husband's infidelity and the Beckham's staunch denials of it. The book also includes the events that led to the Beckhams relocation to America.
This is an easy read. It does not whitewash the choices of Victoria Beckham and the Spice Girls when she ends her romantic relationship to concentrate on her career or when the Spice Girls fire their first manager (the man who put them together) to hire a new manager who eventually landed them lucrative commerical endorsements. The book paints a fair picture of Ms. Beckham -the strengths and the weaknesses; the nice and not-so-nice personality traits. I thoroughly enjoyed the book. I only gave it 4 stars because I felt some areas of her life were glossed over instead of explored in fuller detail. Maybe that was because substantiated material was not available or it was the author's choice. If you want a fair portrait of Ms. Beckham, read this book.
