Product Description Most people don’t expect you to understand what we’re going to tell you in this book. And even if you understand, they don’t expect you to care. And even if you care, they don’t expect you to do anything about it. And even if you do something about it, they don’t expect it to last. We do. – Alex and Brett

Awesome and encouraging July 4, 2009 Jordan Boston (Bend, OR) It was really encouraging to see young men of God stepping out and challenging their generation to stop settling for the status quo. These young brothers are stepping up to make a difference in their generation. In a time when I hear so many horrifying stories of youth on a downhill moral landslide this book offers one more glimpse of hope for the future of our nation's young people.

Teens are wired to rebel. They need to create a distance from others' expectations and try on different identities to find their own. But is it sufficient to only discover what you don't want to be or don't like to do? What about finding out who you are and what you can do? It is difficult to find out who you really are by just thinking about it. But you will find out by challenging yourself to exceed everyone's expectations and by turning your potential into reality. I love the focus of this book! Whoever you are, rebel against any person and any idea that says you cannot accomplish great things. Many of us look back at our teen years as time wasted waiting for our "real" lives to start. What are you waiting for? Why not courageously find and do something great? Half-hearted living can be a lethal habit to form at a young age. Rather than worry about what you'll do someday, why not ask what wonderful adventures you can launch right now! Eric and Brett Harris's "Do Hard Things" does an outstanding job at spreading a motivational message. These young men do not have the experience of long lives (yet), but this allows them to connect and have credibility with teens. I am persuaded by them and by my own life experiences that the best way to keep teens out of trouble is not to load on the "shall nots", but to help them focus on positive activities for which they have a passion. This book has and will successfully inspire many teens to find and pursue life-enhancing and life-changing deeds. Co-author of ARROWS THROUGH TIME: A Time Travel Tale of Adventure, Courage, and Faith.
Simplistic and Offensive June 20, 2009 Linda P. Foxworth (Reno, Nevada) 3 out of 9 found this review helpful
I found this book offensive as a woman, as a Christian, as a Democrat, and as a Psychology major. I suppose if I were misogynistic, homophobe, and wished women in our society were forced to wear burkas, I might have enjoyed the book more. Also, if I liked reading pop-psychology written by boys who have no background in psychology and who fail to use the support of facts or even a strong, rational argument to build their case I would have enjoyed the book more. However, as a thinking person, this book falls far short of my expectations of what a good book can be. While I agree with the basic ideas of positive thinking and what boils down to the Black Belt philosophy, 'set a goal, make a plan, take action, fix what isn't working, practice, practice, practice...these five things will lead to mastery,' I disagree with the political undercurrents with which this philosophy is offered.

Do Hard Things: A Teenage Rebellion Against Low Expectations An inspiring read for teens and young adults! I enjoyed it so much that I gave this as a graduation gift to members of my church.
