Product Description Sonny West had a front-row seat on the roller-coaster ride that made up the last two decades of Elvis Presley's life. In his poignant and loving account, West gives Elvis fans a rare glimpse into the everyday but far-from-ordinary life of one of the most revered and beloved figures of all time.

As bad as "Elvis - What Happened?" November 25, 2008 NotAMVD (Chicago) 3 out of 4 found this review helpful
Don't waste your money on this book - it's as bad as "Elvis - What Happened?" After the way this clown sold Elvis out for the Almighty Dollar, I wouldn't give him a dime if he was starving to death. I checked this out from my local library, and it's more lies, half-truths, and sensationalist trash. But, that shouldn't surprise anyone, since it's coming from one of the Wests. Lame, Sonny - get your own life and stop riding on Elvis' coat-tails. He's been gone 31 years, isn't it about time you got a real job?
Awesome read! September 5, 2008 Laurie D. Segura (New Iberia, Louisiana) 0 out of 5 found this review helpful
This book was so much more than I expected. I could not wait to turn the page. After reading several Elvis books, I believe Sonny West gave an accurate portrait of Elvis' life and it was done with so much dignity.
Just Amazing August 11, 2008 Joseph Beagle (Maine) 0 out of 3 found this review helpful
This was one of the first Elvis books I've ever read, since then...nothing can top it. It gives you the light side of Elvis along with the dark side, however the love Sonny West has for Presley is evident througout the book. Comes with an interesting Q and A at the end and a detailed look at the Memphis Mafia. Certainly worth buying, you will not be able to put it down.
JUST TRYING TO MAKE MORE MONEY OFF OF ELVIS July 27, 2008 Judith C. Umstead (Ft. Pierce, FL USA) 7 out of 7 found this review helpful
I was so disappointed with this book. I thought for sure it was going to be different from his last. In a way it was, this one was somewhat less hostile. I just think that Mr. West is trying once again to make money off of his association with Elvis. I just can't refer to him as a friend to Elvis, because friends like this who needs enemies. Mr. West would be of retirement age and I think he was just looking to make his retirement a little more secure and what better way than for him to once again live off of Elvis. I wonder where Mr. West would be today if he had not ever known Elvis. I'm sure his life would have been far less interesting and glamorous. If only he could have been a more sincere and honest friend like Joe Esposito, George Klein, Jerry Schilling and so many more. I think we can all tell the real truth about Elvis just by the so many true and wonderful friends and the legions and legions of fans he has today and he continues to create even more fans and many of them were not even born when Elvis passed away. I think we can safely say that Elvis will be remembered and loved for many generations to come and in the not too distant future people will be saying, 'Sonny who? Oh that guy that took advantage of Elvis in life as well as after he died.' Sorry Mr. West you lack credibility. Go away and please stop trying to make a buck off of Elvis.
