Product Description It is October of 1963, and after years of hard work and obscurity, the Beatles music fame has begun in earnest, and with that fame comes success that no one in music has ever achieved before. Under the guidance of their devoted manager, Brian Epstein, their eminence and adoration have taken possession of the news media and persuaded minds in government. The days of their lives have become synonymous with adventure. But because of an Oxford professor s desire for power, another kind of adventure transforms the Beatles lives forever. With the help of their loyal manager they must keep their new secret from even their closest relatives, friends and fans.

Cute but Childish October 28, 2008 cynicalgirl (Laurel MS USA) Ok, I am the fly in the ointment. I like this book but it is a bit immature. I didn't really get into the story but there were cute parts. Also the guys and their entourage (Brian, Mal, Neil, Derek, George Martin, etc) are presented in a funny and loving manner. And after reading the intro, I really thought the author was sweet. Criticizing this book seems downright cruel but this was not a book for adults. But it will remind you of your young Beatlemaniac days and maybe that is the idea. She says that she wrote the book because of a dream she had of John and she credits a friend with helping her envision the George character but she does not slight Paul or Ringo so it is a book all Beatles fans can like. Some thoughts: I was surprised at the fact that Jane Asher played such a prominent role and the others had no girlfriends to speak of (I think Cynthia was mentioned once). Also the research is impressive except for minor errors such Paul's mother was/is dead and Mr. Mac did not remarry until after this book's time frame yet there is a mother noted. Also Ringo's real last name is mispelled which could have just been a typo. I don't want anyone to be put off from buying the book but I just want to say that it is very--for lack of a better word--childish. Kind of resembles the cartoon series.
A really fun read! May 27, 2007 Akeybear (Yakima, WA USA) This is a rollicking good read. Alice takes you on a fun adventure with the Beatles that is full of unexpected twists and turns. I would highly recommend this book to anyone who likes the Beatles.
Beatlemania and FUN!!! May 26, 2007 Season (Washington State, USA) Beatle fans, this is very like watching the old Beatle movies and cartoons, but better!! This is a FUN book !! If you loved the Beatles in your own teenage years, or if you are just now discovering them, this is a fantastic romp that no one else has ever thought to write. This story had me laughing out loud! This writer's style will surprise and delight you. Sillyness reigns throughout. I loved it!!! Never since their first two movies have the Beatles been presented in such an enjoyable light. Thank you, Alice!! More, please!
