| Customer Reviews: Really nice book of Marilyn Monroe photos August 13, 2009 N. Haubrich (San Francisco, CA, USA) This book contains some really low-key photos of Marilyn, as well as lots of text. It provided some interesting background and historical information I was not aware of before; I'm kind of a Marilyn fan, but not fanatical; I found this book very touching and interesting. She was a complicated figure and an interesting person in her own right. Too bad she did not live longer; she was a fabulous actress!
So far my absolute favourite MM book April 3, 2009 T.T. (MovieLand) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I am a huge MM fan and collector of her books. I have a good number of books on her. But when I'm interested in seeing pictures of Marilyn, out of all my books, I reach for this one. I just really like it. Huge, clear pictures. Lots unseen. And I think the essence is it covers all of Marilyn; her happy, sad, thoughtful, e.t.c. To me it also has the quickest and simple, yet totally well-rounded biography (the book is simply Marilyn's life in Clayton's words, with tons of pics). The bio is not complicated, but thoroughly tells of Marilyn's thoughts and actions and the thoughts and actions of those who interacted with her. If you get this book you won't regret it.
Some of Monroe Unseen February 10, 2009 Emanuel D. Elias (Los Angeles, CA USA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I liked this book. It should be in every Monroe collector's collection. It contains lots of rare pictures and info that wasn't generally known to the public. The only fault that I found that no color pictures were added in the book. But otherwise it's well worth your time and money.
That fabulous face! November 9, 2005 S. C. Watson (NY) 10 out of 10 found this review helpful
It's a uniquely American tale. Young cute girl with some natural talent and good looks remade into stunning zaftig star. And tragic as well. Marie Clayton's bio puts together some incredible photos. I would have never pictured myself much of a Marilyn fan, but I'm just so taken with her smile. Her face conveys so much. I'm not talking about complicated emotions, but just stunningly simple and beautiful reactions. Plus, the sheer physicality of her. She's ample and full. Clayton's done a nice job assembling this book.
