Product Description Tom Hanks introduces the rousing story of two inseparable friends and soldiers portrayed in the HBO miniseries Band of Brothers. William "Wild Bill" Guarnere and Edward "Babe" Heffron were among the first paratroopers of the U.S. Army, and their story is a tribute to the lasting bond forged between comrades in arms---and to all those who fought for freedom.

The Best books of WWII June 17, 2009 Americo Garza Cavazos (Mexico) The best read of WW II, You need to see Band of Brothers HBO and apreciate this book
Babe and "wild bill " are true brothers of war. May 29, 2009 Jerry Lynn Mayers Jr. I like this book from the beginning to the end, the author did a great job. going back and forth between both men. I read band of brothers and daniel webster book also about Easy company. they all give a great reflection and the same events.
Get to know "The Brothers" better May 7, 2009 Tbolt427 I had watched and read "Band of Brothers" many times. When I saw that 2 of the actual soldiers had written a book together, I had to have it. It did not disappoint. Being so familiar with the details of "Band of Brothers", I was pleased in how "Babe" Heffron and "Wild" Bill Guarnere were able to fill in many details not covered in the book, in an anecdotal style that makes you feel you are old friends sitting around talking. They showed the horror of war, the camaraderie, and even some humor that these "kids" shared in WWII. It is a book I will be reading over and over, I am sure.
Brothers in Battle, Best of Friends February 18, 2009 Beth Young (Bountiful UT) I am a friend of Wild Bill's and have encouraged him several times to write a book or let me do it. I was thrilled that he finally did it. He is a national treasure. So much of his heroism actually came after the war and that is a little known story. This book is entertainin, enriching, enlightening. A must have for WWII readers.
Bonded in War,for a Lifetime of Laughs February 5, 2009 S. Forbess (TN) I can't sing enough praise for this book.It tells the story of two men,put toghether by the Army in wartime. It starts with both their rough and tumble Depression upbringings in South Philadelphia. Two men who lived similar lives, mere blocks apart. It took a world war to bring them together.Bill Gaurnere is the toughest of the tough, and Babe Heffron was a replacement. They quicky became friends, due to both being from Philly.THe book is about their war journey, but to me its about loyalty and friendship above all else. Two men,who may have later in life, passed each other on the street, became as close as you can be with someone.Bonded in war,and remained friends to this day. They set the bar high in their tale of war and friendship. We can all learn from them,by their example. They say they arent hero's.But to me they are. They lived to go on with their lives and put the war behind them.Through it all they have remained as close as brothers.I love this book.It is a true treasure.A gift to those who want a personal account of some of the most famous battles in American history.
