Good gift for teenage girl who likes Green Day January 18, 2008 S. L. Blasdel (Tucson, AZ USA) I gave this as a Christmas gift to a teenage girl who is a fan of Green Day. She was excited to get it.
You will read this book. March 23, 2007 I am obsessed with Green Day, but I haven't always thought of them like that; when I first heard of them, it was around the time their album 'Shenanigans' was released, I think. At that time, I was really into Avril Lavigne. I still like her, but I don't like her THAT much anymore. Anyway, I heard of Green Day, and I automatically assumed they weren't any good. A few years later, American Idiot came out. I went out and bought it, and realised I was COMPLETELY wrong. And that was how I became obsessed with them. But no matter how obsessed with them, while I found out a lot about them, I still didn't know a lot about them. I was a bit doubtful about reading this book, but honestly: You so should read this book. It is full of information, from their humble beginnings in squatters' basements to international stardom. It describes many hilarious incidents and it also describes their albums in-depth. It also describes their influences, and who they influenced, and it has the awesomest colour photo collage ever in the middle, as well as black-and-white photos throughout. You will read this book. I repeat: You WILL read this book. NOW.
Must have for all Green Day Fans November 12, 2006 MJ Diamond (San Fran, CA) This book is the ultimate item to add to any collection of Green Day memorabilia, CDs, posters, and what-have-you. It entails a complete history of the band, as well as a little background on the members. It's not the gripping, heart-wrenching memoir that is Anthony Kiedis' "Scar Tissue" but it punches out information with the same verve and attitude as the band itself, keeping you interested and totally absorbed page after page. Simply dripping with little-known tidbits, it's certainly a good thing to have on any music lover's shelf. I positively love this book, and love the band.
