| Customer Reviews: A Variety of Saints December 15, 2008 Lisa C. George (Olathe,Ks.) Women Saints is a grand, marvelous work from Sophia Compton and her fellow authors. Specifically, the diversity of women saints she has found is "wow-ing." I recommend that anyone interested in women saints pick up this book and find the women who stand out for each person. And there is no doubt in my mind that each individual will find specific holy women who appeal to him/her. This book is as close to all-inclusive as its authors can make it. It shows a vast amount of scholarship and both a unique and an ecumenical approach to biographies of saints. One can also find short prayers and pertinent readings for each day which can be used as one might use a short office of hours.

Spiritual Witnesses
Women Saints: 365 Daily Readings, by Madonna Sophia Compton and Maria Compton Hernandez provides reflections on holy women from the Orthodox, Anglican, Protestant, and Catholic traditions. Some of the women are familiar--Sarah and Hagar, Dorothy Day, Harriet Tubman--while others you will enjoy learning more about. Each day includes a brief description of the saint's life, a prayer, and excerpts from scripture. Crossroad.

Perfect for the collection and spirit of any avid Catholic reader February 6, 2007 Midwest Book Review (Oregon, WI USA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
365 Christian saints from both Eastern and Western traditions are surveyed in a set of daily readings which pairs a biographical review of the saint's life with scriptures and original prayers to honor them. This makes for a powerful set of daily reflections and new information: perfect for the collection and spirit of any avid Catholic reader, especially those with an interest in the women saints.
