| Customer Reviews: Beatles for jazz piano September 9, 2009 W. Brown (Greenbelt, MD) This is a mid-range great book. I've just recently started taking piano lessons after having been away from the piano for 15+ years. This was a great book to have, because it kept me interested and I love the Beatles music. The arrangements are great and it wasn't too difficult to follow.
Jazzy fun June 21, 2009 SuuSoprano (Winston-Salem, NC USA) This is a nice collection of Beatles songs, arranged in a jazz style. It's moderately hard and fun to play, with unusual chords and modulation.
A Fine Collection of Arrangements At A Most Reasonable Price June 6, 2008 Hercule (NY/FL/USA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
For those seeking to learn, explore or compare less fundemental chording and phrashing, this excellent choice of materials and generally interesting arrangements brings a fresh approach to the music of lennon and mccartney; makes a fine gift for that musician seeking out to broaden wingspan--it's interesting that those who wrote these arrangements probably could make endless circles around the limited technical knowledge of the original composers; such genius seems all the more radiant considering such limitations--reminds me of errol garner who, upon completing the classic misty, gave it to arrangers to put on staff paper for him--
Lounge Beatles March 6, 2001 8 out of 8 found this review helpful
If you are used to the standard arrangements in Beatles Songbooks and want something new this is a good book to try. This is a piano solo book, with chord symbols, no lyrics. The songs are arranged with more extended chords and some substitutions, as compared with the usual arrangements. Not all the songs are in the keys the Beatles played them in. However, the arrangements are complete and you can play them as is. They do not include any written out improvisation; however, you have some fresh chords to improvise over. Some of the songs sound good adding a jazz swing feel others don't. Some of the songs sound a little strange at first with the extended chords but grow on you. This book is at an intermediate level. The following songs are included: Get Back, All My Loving, And I Love Her, Eleanor Rigby, The Fool on the Hill, Here There and Everywhere, Michelle, Nowhere Man, Strawberry Fields Forever, With A Little Help from My Friends,
