Little Did I Know.... January 18, 2010 Pamela S Thibodeaux (Iowa, LA) The first time I saw this book on the shelf the title struck me - I thought, "yeah, look who he is" followed by angst of how easy it is for celebrities and politicians, their spouse, or some other `inside source' to get a publishing contract while so many of us authors struggle for the slightest crumb from the industry's table.
Ungracious? Of course.
Un-Christian - Absolutely.
Much to my chagrin.
Little did I know how this book would impact my life.
I don't want to give away any spoilers but let me just say, Denise & Alan Jackson's struggle to maintain a healthy, centered life amidst the chaos associated with stardom is a testimony of faith ~ in themselves, in each other and in the One who can make sense of everything else.
After recently losing my husband of twenty-plus years, I made the comment to a friend: "Most people love their spouse, but not everyone is devoted to their spouse."
Terry and I were. It's obvious by this story, so are Denise and Alan.
I recommend this book for everyone who wishes to know the secret of this kind of devotion.
So when you pass it on the shelf, and like me, think ungracious or un-Christian thoughts - repent immediately! Then, open your mind, buy the book, and let the words contained in this beautiful story touch your heart and impact your life as it has mine.
Pamela S Thibodeaux,
Author of Tempered Hearts
A little bit preachy. November 10, 2009 C. Rector (Virginia) I got this book being that it was on clearance at the time for $5.99. I've always been a fan of Alan Jackson so I thought it would be a good read. I also assumed that the title "It's All About Him" meant it was all about Alan. It didn't really go into much detail at all as far as their personal life. She just kind of dusted over the events and didn't really elaborate on anything. Towards the end it was very preachy and I felt like I was at church. I would have liked it better if it had been an actual autobiography about their lives. It was more about her spiritual journey after he left her in the late 90's.
An inspirational read perfect for Christian spirituality libraries September 18, 2009 Midwest Book Review (Oregon, WI USA) An introduction by country singer Alan Jackson and an accompanying CD from Alan Jackson compliments IT'S ALL ABOUT HIM: FINDING THE LOVE OF MY LIFE but doesn't negate the fact that 'him' isn't a biography of the country singer, but refers to God as much as Alan. Denise tells of a woman who appears to have everything - a famous country music legend husband, children - but finds herself lacking in love and faith alike. Her re-awakening to life's potentials and newfound discovery of God makes for an inspirational read perfect for Christian spirituality libraries.
Uplifting! September 13, 2009 Christine R. Williams (Fenton, MI USA) This book is not just for those struggling to save a marriage. For anyone struggling to "find themselves", this is a uplifting and worthwhile read. I myself have let "Jesus Take The Wheel". The relief I felt was as though a huge rock was lifted off my chest. I can breathe again and never feel as alone as I did. Thank you Denise, for being humble enough to share such a personal journey. You are so right. It IS "All About Him".
It's All About Him: Finding the Love of My Life September 12, 2009 Terri (Texas) A friend of mine lent me this book. I enjoyed it so much that I decided to buy a copy of my own. I thought the first part about the Jackson's life was interesting, but I really enjoyed Denise's story of her journey back to a close personal relationship with our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
