Product Description Singer. Songwriter. With an unmistakable voice that resonates with millions, lyrics that speak volumes in the span of three minutes, and a career that lasted nearly five decades, Johnny Cash was peerless in his style and had a vast influence on country, folk, and rock music. The legendary "Man in Black" (who originally wanted to be a gospel singer) wrote his first hit record for Sam Phillips at Sun Records in the 1950s...and in 2003 turned a Nine Inch Nails song into one of the most deeply moving music videos ever created. A man of uncommon grace and innate goodness, Johnny Cash plied his gifts, fought his demons, and lived a life that was his alone -- enjoying one of the great love stories of the century with his wife, June, while somehow managing to leave a little of himself with people all over the world. In Cash: An American Man, fans of his music are now given a unique and personal glimpse into his life through hundreds of photographs, private letters, handwritten lyrics, his final interview given just three weeks before his death, and other astonishing memorabilia -- a one-of-a-kind collection fully authorized by the Johnny Cash Estate and created in cooperation with his friend, confidant, and lifelong fan, Bill Miller. Lavishly illustrated and designed by the award-winning team at Rare Air Media, Cash: An American Man is sure to be one of the most talked-about books of the year, and the ultimate tribute to one of the music's most enduring figures.

Great Visual Book On A Great Artist. March 13, 2009 Jose Lopez (Miami,Florida USA) This book while being a little short, is a great visual book on a GREAT ARTIST, Johnny Cash The Man In Black, Alot of collectors items is feature in this book, even things that I didn't know like Cash was a Sheriff of some town for a while. Cool .
Johnny Cash "An American Man" An Excellent, Well Illustrated Book!!!!! March 2, 2009 Gary Covington (LA) This is a great book about Johnny's professional life. It is mainly a pictorial book, it contains lots & lots of pictures, copies of documents, copies of hand-written song lyrics, and more. It contains some commentaries about Johnny that were written by others. Plus, the main thing, it contains Johnny's last interview. This is a great book about a great American Music Legend!!!
**Awesome** November 3, 2007 Grateful Soldier (NSW AUS) This is a good visual book on the life of Johnny Cash - it is indeed a collectors item.

FOR THOSE OF US WHO FOLLOWED JOHNNY CASH FROM ALMOST DAY ONE, THIS IS POSSIBLY THE MOST PERSONAL AND MOST FULFILLING BOOK EVER DONE ABOUT HIS LIFE. BILL MILLER, A CLOSE FRIEND OF JOHNNY'S SINCE CHILDHOOD, HAS PUT TOGETHER A SCRAPBOOK.COLLAGE OF THE VERY BEST OF JOHNNY'S LOVING AND CARING PERSONALITY. IT'S LIKE GOING BACK IN MY OWN CHILDHOOD, TO THE FIRST TIME I HEARD THE GREAT MAN SING. THAT VOICE, IT WAS LIKE NOTHING WE'D EVER HEARD BEFORE. LATER, THANKS TO MY UNCLE PLAYING ON VENUE'S WITH JOHNNY, I ALSO GOT TO MEET HIM, AND ALWAYS HE WAS KIND, CONSIDERATE AND TO A YOUNG PERSON, OVERWHELMING. BILL SENT MY WIFE AND I A COPY AND IT'S JUST A TREASURE. EVEN IF YOU BECAME A FAN LATER ON, THIS IS A BOOK THAT GOES BEYOND ALL THE OTHERS. IT'S LIKE JOHNNY HIMSELF LEFT YOU SOME OF HIS PERSONAL BELONGINGS AND GAVE YOU A GOING AWAY PRESENT. WE LOVE THIS BOOK AND TREASURE IT AND THANK BILL MILLER, HIMSELF AN OBVIOUSLY KIND AND LOVING MAN. BUY IT, YOU WON'T BE SORRY AND 25 YEARS FROM NOW THIS ONE BOOK WILL BE THE ONE EVERYONE TRIES TO FIND. IT'S SO GREAT!

I just loved this scrapbook-style memoir by someone who was probably Cash's biggest fan. The photos and the stories were just wonderful and the layout was fantastic.
