Product Description This violent and introspective memoir reveals not only 50 Cent's story but also the story of a generation of youth faced with hard choices and very few options. It is a tale of sacrifice, transformation, and redemption, but also one of hope, determination, and the power of self. Told in 50's unique voice, the narrative drips with the raw insight, street wisdom, and his struggle to survive at all costs -- and behold the riches of the American Dream.

Insightful January 31, 2010 Sumer Hall (Paragould, AR) I saw 50 cent on the Chelsea Lately show recently. Until then, I hadn't given him a second thought. I honestly figured he was just another thug rapper type (I am not into rap). However, after seeing his interview, I found him charming and articulate. I found myself wanting to know more about him. This was the first book I downloaded on my Kindle. It was a great story. It is amazing and inspiring. It was brutally honest, and I respect that. After reading his book, I am amazed at how he has overcome so many struggles. I would never have guessed he was a high school drop out. It is clear that he is a gifted individual, and I personally find him much more endearing than Kayne, P Diddy...or any of the others. I may actually give his music a listen!
Overcoming our circumstances December 17, 2009 Y. Ravello I bought this book as a Christmas present for my 17yr Godson who has been struggling with direction in his life. Being a teenager is not easy. We all have problems that challenge us in our everday life.So 50cent story is a powerful one as my Godson looks up to people like his image, music and now he can read for himself that 50cent life circumstances were very difficult than his life, yet it shows us how inspiring one person's life can be and how we can all learn from each other, that perserverance, belief in yourself and that never giving up hope will bring you all the success you want and deserve. Book worth reading...

Good Book October 5, 2009 MCadorette (Waterford, CT)
From Pieces to Weight is a great book; it is the best book I have read in a long time. This book takes place in New York City. It is about Curtis Jackson's (50 cent) daily struggle to survive life. When he is only 5 years old his mother is murdered and he goes to live with his drug addicted grandparents. Poor as can be he starts selling drugs and hustling in his first year of junior high school. He is determined to get money and get out of the ghetto. Curtis has really good intentions but has no other way to put clothes on his own back and shoes on his feet then to sell drugs.
My favorite part of this book is how deep and real Curtis is in it. The book is told in a way that seems like he is having a conversation with you. Not like he wrote a book and it's fake. I also loved the parts in the book when Curtis was running from the cops and hiding out from the cops. It has high energy and you can really feel everything he is feeling.
Although I loved this book, I wish he went a lot more into detail when he went to jail multiple times. He tells a little about it but it is not nearly as graphic as jail seems to be. Throughout the book I was wondering what went on there with him and the other inmates.
I would recommend this book to people who listen to rap and have listened to his music. I would also recommend this book to people who want to see beyond the typical rapper stereotype.
