Product Description Boston medical examiner Dr. Maura Isles literally meets her match–and must face a savage serial killer and shattering personal revelations–in the brilliant new novel of suspense by the New York Times bestselling author of The Surgeon and The Sinner. Dr. Maura Isles makes her living dealing with death. As a pathologist in a major metropolitan city, she has seen more than her share of corpses every day–many of them victims of violent murder. But never before has her blood run cold, and never has the grim expression “dead ringer” rung so terrifyingly true. Because never before has the lifeless body on the medical examiner’s table been her own. Yet there can be no denying the mind-reeling evidence before her shocked eyes and those of her colleagues, including Detective Jane Rizzoli: the woman found shot to death outside Maura’s home is the mirror image of Maura, down to the most intimate physical nuances. Even more chilling is the discovery that they share the same birth date and blood type. For the stunned Maura, an only child, there can be just one explanation. And when a DNA test confirms that Maura’s mysterious doppelgaenger is in fact her twin sister, an already bizarre murder investigation becomes a disturbing and dangerous excursion into a past full of dark secrets. Searching for answers, Maura is drawn to a seaside town in Maine where other horrifying surprises await. But perhaps more frightening, an unknown murderer is at large on a cross-country killing spree. To stop the massacre and uncover the twisted truth about her own roots, Maura must probe her first living subject: the mother that she never knew . . . an icy and cunning woman who could be responsible for giving Maura life–and who just may have a plan to take it away.

fantastic April 8, 2009 P. Lorenzi (Sao Paulo - Brazil) don't miss the entire saga! kind of book that is hard to leave until you are finished! I love the focus on Maura isles on this one! great book too!!!!!
same ole thing March 6, 2009 My 1st Tess Gerriston book. Although I liked it it seemed to be the same thing. The twin aspect of it though put a twist into it but it was a pretty predictable book. If the next book I read of hers is as bland as this one I'm done!
I Was A Teen Age Body Double Zombie January 21, 2009 D. R. Thayer (Los Angeles, CA USA) It's been a long time since a book kept me awake all night. This book was so entertaining and suspenseful that I couldn't stop reading it and then finally I finished it and noticed that it was four in the morning. The next day everybody was asking me if I was sick or something, and I was too embarrassed to admit that I'd been up the whole night before, unable to stop reading this thriller. Extremely original characters and a truly surprising climax. Beautiful use of language. Excellent imagery. Interesting thematic question asked throughout the book as well: how much of our spiritual and life destiny relies upon the genetic hand dealt to each of us? With every book I read by Tess Gerritsen, I grow more impressed with her. One thing I like very much about Body Double is that Gerritsen creates intense suspense without compromising herself or our collective thought pool with brutal imaginings about endless stings of brutalized women tormented by an unimaginably horrific serial killer. In Body Double and one or two other books by Gerritsen, the bad guys are very Shakespearean in their ordinariness, considering themselves to be quite normal people who simply want a buck or to have their own way. Gerritsen's bad guys are intensely creepy because of their plausibility. Of all of Gerrisen's books I've read, I found Body Double to be the most suspenseful and satisfying.
Captivating! December 17, 2008 Chad Clegg I've been a fan of Gerritsen's ever since running across Vanish. Body Double is, by far, my most favorite of hers to date. That's not to say that I didn't like her other books. I remember the chills I got when discovering where the prologue tied into the story. Gerrtisen has such a smooth delivery. I can only hope people view my writing the same way. I look forward to reading Gerritsen's most recent release: The Keepsake! ~Chad Clegg - Author: The DOMINO EFFECT
Tess Gerritsen Does It Again November 26, 2008 Jo Webnar - Author (Florida Keys) I'm an author that writes romantic suspense, and I can tell you that I am never disappointed by Gerristsen. Her characters are well developed, and she keeps me turning the pages. I read for enjoyment and Tess fills the bill. I love the way she has slowly developed her heroine Rizzoli. Each novel gives you a new insight into her character. If you like thrillers, you'll love this one. I keep trying to put out the light, but end up staying awake until the laast page is turned.
