good read May 19, 2009 Chris Benson I found this very interesting reading as to how bands are formed and act and spend everything thus requiring that they continue to tour. Very frank and entertaining.
boring April 26, 2008 babyfat101 1 out of 3 found this review helpful
i can't believe how boring this book is. for example: when christine and john initially get together...he's sitting next to her. he asks her to have dinner with him sometime, and she says she would. wow...how riveting is that?
A Quick Read -- Funny, Informative, Highly Enjoyable January 7, 2008 Todd and In Charge (Miami, FL) 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
I picked this up at a used bookstore the other day, wondering what ole' Mick had to say about all the goings-on in the band. What a surprise! This is a funny, entertaining, highly enjoyable pass through the life and times of English rock in the early to late 60s, abd then an equally enjoyable romp through the craziness that was the LA music biz in the 70s and 80s. Mick's voice is assured, hilarious, wry, insightful, and informative. He is at times modest, regretful, generous and always engaging. The early days of Mac, including the wild goings on with Peter Green and Jeremy Spencer, were a highlight, and of course the Rumours era insanity and some not-flatterring anecdotes about Buckingham are there as well. If you have any interest in rock and roll you will want to read this book. Bravo Mick!
So personal......... July 15, 2006 E. Stoker (Felton, CA USA) 8 out of 8 found this review helpful
I am close to finishing this book which I learned was given to my husband many years ago. It has given me a personal insight into what I never looked at that way. Mick Fleetwood always seemed like a big freak to me. But he is "fleetwood" and he knows how it all went. It is truly an insight into his feelings and a lot more. If you love fleetwood mac, read this and learn all about them - and him, from the beginning.(I'm sure there is a lot you didn't know.). It is touching. Really. Just get it and read it. There's nothing else to say, except how moved I am by this book. Read it.
Enjoyable read December 14, 2003 3 out of 4 found this review helpful
Mick Fleetwood (possibly with help from his writing partner) has a funny, straightforward, conversational style in this book that makes it enjoyable to read. He's very informative about Fleetwood Mac, the band with such a long history. Mick has a good sense of humor about himself and his weaknesses; he discusses bankruptcy, other legal problems, drinking and drug use, affairs, and all kinds of rowdiness with humor and (seemingly) nothing to hide. Admittedly I read this book because I'm more of a Stevie Nicks fan than a Fleetwood Mac muscial group fan - there's some good stuff about her, too, once the Mac is reinventing itself in California. Thumbs up for this book.
