    Product Description
Aching To Be is the true story of the band Scarce as told by its bass player Joyce Raskin . Destined for stardom and acclaimed by critics and fans alike Scarce was poised to become the new darlings of popular music in 1994. But one day Chick does not show up for practice and things begin to unwind. The events that follow leave Chick fighting for his life and puts the future of the band in doubt. This is not another rock and roll memoir, this is a real life story - blisters, guts, heartbreaks and all. With a special introduction by Everett True.

"Aching To Be" pulls no punches as it tells the story of Joyce Raskin's life as a woman in rock and roll, from her struggles to learn the bass at age 13 to reaching the heights of indie success with her band Scarce. Tragically, the magic of Scarce was ravaged by band member Chick Graning's sudden illness. Joyce chronicles Chick's journey back to the world, and how the band coped. After a long hiatus Scarce is now playing and recording together again.

If you ever played in a band, if you ever dreamed of playing, if you ever were a girl in an all-boy situation, this book is for you.
