    Editorial Reviews:

    Product Description
Join Peggy Baseman as she takes us on an alternately hilarious and poignant journey through her world, often through the quirky prism of her kitchen. Dog testicular implants; raccoon home invasions; self-service salad bars; remodeling projects; mammograms; supermarket tabloids; dental visits; random acts of kindness; family Christmas celebrations; First Amendment rights; lost luggage; kids growing up; empty nesters and menopause; alternative energy; sickness and loss—are all explored in a voice which is a lot like the one sitting across from us at the kitchen table. Lots of recipes—some Mom made; some she'd never dare. Guaranteed. If there were even one word about Paris Hilton, this would go immediately to number one.

5 out of 5 stars I haven't laughed this hard in years!   January 22, 2006

Who is this woman Peggy Baseman -- and where has she been all my life? This is easily the most entertaining little book I have read in ages. She seemed you bring out the side of us that relates on a very personal level.

Even if we haven't been invaded by aggressive raccoons it is easy to feel the hilarious emotions of her moments.

If you need some good medicine for the soul you have to enjoy this little escape from life's adversities.

Very well written. The short stories are very entertaining and we can all relate to them in one way or the other. They really made me laugh. The story lead-ins to the recipes were also very clever and entertaining. All recipies should be presented this way. The book is well worth buying. You will enjoy it.

4 out of 5 stars Recipes and Ruminations   October 27, 2005

A combination of Erma Bombeck (God rest her soul) and Andy Rooney. Made me guffaw out loud, alone or sometimes embarrassingly in public, in almost every story. Also has some touching, heartfelt moments. Most readers should be able to identify with so many of the mundane moments of life, which the author makes hilarious. (Now I'm thinkin' kinda like Seinfeld.)
Easy and enjoyable to read for the busy person, since the chapters are short, therefore, no cliff-hangers to force one to keep on. A leisurely read.
Plus, I intend to try each one of the provocative recipes.
