Product Description Chuck Norris has spent a lifetime studying the martial arts, earning several black belts and world championships. Now, through anecdotes about his own personal struggles and triumphs, Norris explains how the ancient system of Zen--the core philosophy behind the martial arts--can help each of us achieve spiritual tranquillity and self-confidence.The Secret Power Within is both a highly accessible lesson in Zen philosophy as well as the compelling story of Chuck Norris's own remarkable success. In this highly entertaining and inspiring account, Norris shows how Zen can be applicable to everyday situations, from the conference room to the living room. Chapters include: * Winning by Losing: If you have nothing to prove, you have no need to fight. * Complete the Wheel: How to balance your life to achieve success. * Your Master, Your Art: To maintain self-respect you must respect the work you do, and do it as well as possible. * My Way of Meditating: Norris's personal technique for achieving tranquillity under pressure. The message is simple: There are no limits for the person who refuses to accept them.

Surprising Depth May 8, 2009 selfdiscoveryportal.com (WV USA) Norris points out that the goal of any martial art is to bring you closer to yourself, to help you find the way to enlightenment - drawing the parallel relationship between martial arts training and Zen. The term "zen" comes by way of China's "ch'an" from the Sanskrit word "dhyana," meaning concentration or focus. Ancient Zen became associated with developing intuition as the most direct path to Truth or Self-recognition, which Norris illustrates as applying to the martial arts as well. Quoting Confucius ("He who conquers himself is the greatest warrior"), he defines conquering yourself as recognizing something greater than your personal self. For the neophyte to the overly-sophisticated seeker, Norris provides a wealth of practical wisdom in this book.
Chuck Norris for... March 24, 2009 Scott S, Bell (Elk Grove California) I bought this book after it was recommended to me not knowing what to think. Wow this book had a ton of information but was still written simply. In a nutshell Chuck talks about what it has taken for him over his own lifetime to learn different disciplines of martial arts. In this book Chuck also talks about Qi energy and how he has used it. Overall this is a great read for someone who is interested in Chucks story, his disciplines or just becoming a better person.
Okay book but a little heavy on the martial arts and light on advice February 19, 2009 G. E. Kugler (Big Arm, Montana United States) I love Chuck Norris and think he is one great human being and American. So I buy everything he writes, regardless. On this one I read and there is some good stuff I got but overall for me it is heavy on the martial arts history and the Author's history in martial arts so it was a little slow and dragged on for me. Okay book, didnt think it was great.
never received the book January 31, 2009 Alice in Wonderland (Logansport, In) I can't give an adequate review since I never received it and the seller won't respond to my emails. I have no idea where my book is or if I will ever get it.
The Secret Power Within February 8, 2008 M. Steele (Columbus, OH) Excellent book. Does an excellent job blending timeless Zen lessons to practical life situations. Helps you to stop the daily grind of life and take what is truly important to yourself each day.
