    Product Description
    Buffy fans will go wild!

SHE WAS TARA ON BUFFY THE VAMPIRE SLAYER.

Now she’s the author of Ace’s hottest new series— killer novels featuring Calliope Reaper-Jones, who doesn’t want to be daddy’s little girl anymore...

Calliope Reaper-Jones so just wanted a normal life: buying designer shoes on sale, dating guys from Craig’s List, web-surfing for organic dim-sum for her boss...

But when her father—who happens to be Death himself—is kidnapped, and the Devil’s Protege embarks on a hostile takeover of the family business, Death, Inc., Callie returns home to assume the CEO mantle— only to discover she must complete three nearly impossible tasks in the realm of the afterlife first.

5 out of 5 stars Fun romp in fantasyland   February 9, 2010
Ruth B. Ingram (East Texas, USA)
This was a fun romp in fantasy land with a girl who is the daughter of death and living under a forgetting spell so she can avoid her family and be a simple modern girl living for shopping and dating and living entirely in the moment. However, Jeeves, her dads assistant a faun shows up breaks the spell and tells her her dad has been kidnapped. What Calliope goes through trying to rescue dad and pull the family together makes for several hours of fun and enchanted reading. Certaintly worth my time and will buy from this author again.

    3 out of 5 stars Death's Daughter   December 9, 2009

I was a bit put off at the beginning of this novel with the partially ditzy main character that was stuck in a bad job. It didn't help that she erased memories of her family. I was able to get over the semi-unlikable main character and was interested in the tasks she had to complete to free her father. I felt the novel dragged a bit after the three tasks were complete, and the person behind the kidnapping was fairly obvious, but that didn't stop me from eating the novel up. I read it in one sitting actually. The author does a good job at keeping interest with strange characters, dire circumstances, and tasks that take the main character through hell. If the main character was a bit stronger and the ending was a bit more exciting this would have been a great book. The weakness and vulnerability of the main character makes her more believable and realistic, but it didn't completely endear me. I would recommend giving the novel a try and decide for yourself. I certainly enjoyed it.

1 out of 5 stars Very poor first effort--needed more plot, more editing, more everything!   December 8, 2009

I really wanted to like this book and it had its moments here and there, but it really needed a lot more work. It had clever bits and pieces strung here and there, but mostly, it was just BAD and not in any enjoyable sense of the word. Save your money and your precious time.

2 out of 5 stars Incarnations of Immoratility anyone?   October 2, 2009

While an enjoyable read, the main character is way too whiny. And the idea of "Death" as a job and a person, is something Piers Anthony did back in the early 80's with his "Incarnations of Immortality" books. I felt this idea read like a wanna-be of Piers Anthony personally.

5 out of 5 stars Great read; twist on whodunit/private eye genre   August 27, 2009

Death's Daughter is a thoroughly enjoyable read. It has a great story, engaging characters and a good plot that seems to require the reader to pay attention to his or her knitting. One thing I enjoy in a novel is when a plot is complicated, but logical. The story in Death's Daughter has that sort of a plot. I can see Amber Benson writing a private eye mystery in the mold of Raymond Chandler and pulling it off, something I could never do in my poor attempts at writing a mystery novel. Anyway, back to Death's Daughter. The idea of a daughter searching for her missing father makes me recall fondly one of my favorite books growing up, "A Wrinkle in Time" by Madeline L'Engle. One other aspect I enjoyed was the mythology interwoven within the story. I loved the Hindu/Indian mythology and reading this book made me want to learn more. I look forward to the sequels to follow.
