Product Description

Interesting read, worth a look! April 3, 2007 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This is the first book in Spanish that I've read! It took me awhile, but I did it! Fortunately for me, it's not a ponderous tome, but a casual read. Lots of interesting personal stories and anecdotes about Shakira, although as there's no reference by the authors as to the source of this material, you can't help but wonder about the veracity of some of the information.
Still, as a whole, and given the genre of this book, I'd have to say it's a worthwhile read. Paints a portrait of Shakira as a REAL world person beyond the onstage persona. An easy afternoon read for the those fluent in Spanish and great way to expand your vocabulary and understanding of grammer if you're NOT fluent! As I said, this is the first whole book I've read in Spanish and my comprehension improved greatly from start to finish. Having finished the book, I'd have to say that English is much duller and more technical as a language than Spanish--nowhere near as flowery and poetic in its' construction.
This book also contains a nice 8-page glossy color photo inset at the midpoint, including some nice photos of Shakira when she still had her natural black hair. Personally, I kind of prefered that to her present blonde.
SO, to sum up--SHAKIRA, LO QUE NADIE CONOCE rates four stars. Interesting, presented in a breezy writing style, with a few nice photos included. Worth the price in my opinion and an item of interest for any fan of Shakira. NOT a detailed biography, but interesting none-the-less.
If you are a newer Shakira fan and haven't yet heard it, I'd recommend DAnde EstAn los Ladrones? as the best Shakira album (to date).
Shakira lo que nadie conoce March 28, 2007 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
It is a good book if you want to get to know about Shakira life before she became famous. However, this book was written by someone else, so I don't believe that everything she says in the book is true.
