Product Description
Stories to delight, enchant, and surprise you. Bestselling author and master storyteller Neil Gaiman here presents a breathtaking collection of tales that may chill or amuse readers—but always embrace the unexpected: - A teenage boy who has trouble talking to girls finds himself at a rather unusual party.
- A sinister jack-in-the-box haunts the lives of the children who owned it.
- A boy raised in a graveyard makes a discovery and confronts the much more troubling world of the living.
- A stray cat fights a nightly battle to protect his adopted family from a terrible evil.
These eleven stories illuminate the real and the fantastic, and will be welcomed with great joy by Neil Gaiman's many fans as well as by readers coming to his work for the first time.

Not an appropriate read for a young girl June 6, 2009 Richard Cope I purchased this book for my 11 year old daughter who loved Coraline. However, the content of this book was not what I would consider appropriate for a young reader.
Growing Gaiman May 10, 2009 Sean Andrew McNamara (Arlington,VA) Having come late to Neil Gaimans works I have been selecting this and that title as it interests me- like a rich mind candy that onle an be injoyed in bits and pieces and then only if you allow it to settle just righ befoe you read the next chapter! He's a sneaky one, you think he's writing for one audience and your a outsider enjoying it in secret and then WHAM he draws you in and makes you take ownership of your reading choice! Now I'm buying Gaiman books as stand alone wonders, not the mental palet cleaners I orginally intended. M is for Magic is a road atlas to the cities intent that many of his earlier stories originated and some of his later stories settled. You can't stay comfortable with Neil Gaiman, he's a wild ride and you have to pay attention!
Any collection that contains "Chivalry"... May 5, 2009 J. D. Mattson Any story collection of the incomparable Neil Gaiman that contains the short story "Chivalry" ought to be given 5 stars! Every time I read words that Gaiman has written I am in awe and overcome with jealousy that I never thought of this or that incredible idea! As a child, my favorite stories were the legends of King Arthur, and the story "Chivalry" was not yet around for my enjoyment! How I would have loved to have this collection - as well as his recent Newbery winner, "The Graveyard Book" as a young, avid reader, who obsessively read Ray Bradbury and Edgar Allan Poe over and over again and couldn't find anything on the same level of quality and bone-chilling enjoyment. Even though many of these are being republished here, it is a great introduction for young adults to the crazy, chilling, creative, vivid world of Neil Gaiman. I find these stories to be perfectly acceptable - and amazing - stories for the young, precocious reader. Neil is perfection.

Neil is amazing November 29, 2008 Ms. M. Peach (London, UK) 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
Although this book is aimed at a younger market, I found it extremely entertaining. Nail Gaiman is one of the most amazing writers of our time (if you enjoy the genres he writes in). Buy EVERY book he's written - and try some of his movies!
