5 out of 5 stars Independent review from Americans for Americans   December 7, 2008
0 out of 1 found this review helpful

I may be wrong in my appreciation but this is my thinking every time I recall Washington Post: "professional independent journalism". There is a subtle difference between professional independence and freedom of writing whatever you want and the difference is responsibility. I have had the opportunity to read this weekly national edition before and I was pleased, I have subscribed again because I enjoy the level of care and professionalism journalists at Washington Post put into their notes. You can see the difference in most of their articles, there is the effort of gathering facts and research on the background of each matter.
You may find more than one article, even in the same issue, on the same subject or person showing different perspectives and elaborating different rationales and styles. This factor is really valuable in a society in the need of TRUE information and that's what the Washington Post brings to the table. Independence from the government, independence from their own institution and independence from the own fears and personal preferences is wanted and the Washington Post delivers, good for them and big recognition, thanks.
The negatives?, errors, mistakes and failed predictions or appreciations are possible anywhere and this edition won't be an exception, but you as a reader have always the choice of making your own judgment, and better make it with rich information.

4 out of 5 stars Great for political junkies!   October 2, 2008

If you're a political junkie, probably more left leaning, then the weekly edition of Washington Post hits the spot. This edition includes indepth reports, articles, and their opinion columns for the past 7-10 days of each issue. After living in Washington, D.C. for four years, I got spoiled with the every day and behind the scenes reporting conducted by the Washington Post. This weekly edition is second only to the daily editions. I think it's a better choice than buying the Sunday edition available across the country. And Amazon offers a great price.

1 out of 5 stars Invisible Paper!   July 21, 2008

How could I possibly review this product when I have yet received a copy of the paper.

    4 out of 5 stars Interesting.   October 3, 2007
The paper was as it was sold as. In other words, it was correctly represented.

4 out of 5 stars Insightful news from inside the beltway   September 19, 2007

This magazine is terrific for someone trying to keep up with what's going on in Washington. After every issue I feel like I have really gained some unique insights.

Compliants: I have the distinct feeling that the weekly edition is the redheaded stepchild of the daily edition. The weekly edition seems complacent and unimaginative -- I don't get the feeling that the magazine is getting ready to just take off. The coverage of international news is very spotty, so why not focus on foreign policy instead of random international stories? I am still fuming that the weekly edition didn't include the three part series about Dick Cheney, "The Angler." This weekly should include the best of the Washington Post and excluding this acclaimed series is unforgivable. More book reviews, and opinion/columnists would be nice. Without an expansion of these features, the people who point out that the content is free online certainly have a point. Finally what about some more advertisers? I really like this magazine, but the price is high enough that I really have to think about renewing every time.

Even though I always have to think about renewing, I don't hestiate in giving it four stars.
