Psst–heard about The Lonely Polygamist yet?
You may as well accept it now: You are going to get sick of hearing about The Lonely Polygamist by Brady Udall. You may not hear about it on national talk shows, you may not read about it in newspaper book reviews (well, because really, how many newspapers still review books), you may not have it brought up as the next read for your book group (yet), but you will hear about it. You will hear about it from me…a lot.
You know that book that you read on that day while you were in that place and when you finished it you were too in awe to move? You know, that one that made you so thankful that words even exist to be placed in such a pattern as to create such an incredible book? Yeah, that’s The Lonely Polygamist.
My co-workers have been great sports thus far. I mean, you don’t have to be around me at least 40 hours a week, so you have it easy. But for my fellow VB-ers, well, they have to endure my endless rants, my constant “HAVE YOU READ THIS?!” pleas while I shove a copy of the book in their face. And it seems to be working, as 7 of them grabbed advance reading copies yesterday, convinced that maybe they do need to read it because. And let’s face it, they do. We all do.
Here’s the catch: The book is not available to you until May (if we're lucky, it'll arrive in April!) But I’m starting now. I have to. Because if the book arrives in the store without any of you knowing about it, I’m not doing my job, which is to make sure you guys always have a good book in your hand. So read what you’re reading right now. Then read whatever is next on your list. And maybe a few more after that. But then when May rolls around, put all the other books you already have waiting to be read aside, because you’re going to need to prepare yourself for something amazing. The Lonely Polygamist is a force. I can’t wait for all of you to experience it!
